Mostly agree, but I'd keep Kiko! * First of all, playing the way we do, it takes a special kind of 'keeper to cope with the added pressures our style of play imposes on 'keepers. * Meslier is our future. Bringing in a first class 'keeper might dent his confidence or chase him away. * 'Keepers stepping up from the Championship to the PL can be a hit or miss, more so than outfield players. * Anyone wanting to come in as a #2 has no ambition & is either chasing the money, or looking for a wind-down to retirement. No hunger. * We gain no advantage in paying Kiko off. Still costs as much, only he gets a lump sum instead of a weekly wage. * Financially, paying off Kiko & also paying a new #2 is madness! (not to mention the transfer cost). So whilst Kiko has howlers in him, imo it's a risk worth taking as he'll not play that many games. Never thought I'd see the day where I'd want Kiko to stay.
Paying off Casilla is economically viable if we promote Caprile. Any transfer fee we would have paid (plus wages) for an ageing keeper looking for a last payday to come in as back-up to Meslier would be used to pay off Coco. Obviously the best scenario would be finding some mugs to take him off our hands. Spurs might even give us £10m for him
Now then young man (in by best Brian Clough impersonation), wasn’t it you that broke the glorious news we were making a signing we would be blown away by? We certainly were
In my defence I was told by his agent that Leeds were signing a world class international Champions League winner from a Spanish club so in hindsight he bigged him up somewhat He wouldn't tell me specifically who it was so don't shoot the messenger He also told me in advance about a wonder kid called Bogusz, saying he was going to be the next big thing ffs
Injury / loss of form. Plus you might want to rotate your No2 'keeper and not play your No1 in every game.
Meslier scares me every time he gets the ball and f***s about with the ball at his feet, looking for a pass that the likes of Cooper refuse to look for. He gave away a penalty and a goal today because he's NOT a footballer. Do you really think Henderson would have given away that penalty ?
I know he's not and even if Man Utd did decide to sell him, he's on way too high wages for us to sign - and I pretty much said that. It's just that Marcos said he'd have Meslier over Henderson "every day of the week" I wonder if he still feels that way.
This is the thread that Marcos claimed he'd have Meslier over Henderson (of Man Utd) "every day of the week" It's only appropriate that he is replied to on this thread.
I suggest you look back to the post I was replying to In future I would respectfully suggest you count to ten before replying just so you get your facts right
I's make a similar request of you Once again, I was replying to a post by Marcos, not from you, on this very thread about preferring Meslier to Henderson "every day of the week". I was wondering if he still rated Meslier higher than Henderson.
So, I came on tonight fully expecting pelters from Poly and, well done, you were totally predictable. Meslier had a shocker, you know it, I know it, he knows it. Did Henderson gift Pablo a goal two years ago when he was older than Meslier is now? Yep, you bet he did. Would I have Meslier every day of the week over Henderson? Yep, I would. You see, your rush to be seen to be right is probably why your likes to posts is shocking, you want to be the smart arse, ask yourself some questions. And before anyone thinks I am being harsh, you actually had four pops at me in 40 minutes - dickhead If you want to throw a twenty year old under a bus after a bad game don’t ever expect us to thrive again, it will take time.
Agreed. There’s not one keeper, even the very best in the world, who hasn’t had a nightmare game to forget, and this was Meslier’s first really bad game for Leeds. Coco had a nightmare 4 out of every 5 games On Henderson, I seem to remember he ****ed up big time in one game...against Leeds.
Nail on head.....the kid is 20 in the worst position on the pitch, strikers miss chances but if they score a last minute winner they are heroes. Keeper drops a clanger in last minute he's a stump.....you could also throw De gea into the mistakes section this season so give him a bit of slack
We won the 2nd half 2-1. WE SCORED FROM A CORNER!!! Roberts and Costa got some decent game time and after a slow start (did someone punch him in the face?) He improved to the best he's been since the start of the season. Arsenal were really up for it. We really missed Kalvin. I'm sure Bielsa is as frustrated as us but until Llorente is fit we'll have to suffer. Meslier had a tough game. Move on. Hate to lose but it was in London without Philips meh
Glad to see from the last few posts we can have a grownup conversation on hear from time to time **** happens move on and learn
