I thought TF and Redknapp had met a few times previously?

Fernandes seems pretty busy (he runs an airline by day) so am not reading too much into this.

Also reckon his ego has taken a beating so would expect him to be quiet until things start looking up (probably with an apology to fans and a comment about always trying his best for the club).

He's a good man and I hope he's with us for many, many years yet.

Has RK still got the most pathetic goal celebration of all time complete with the primary school style forward roll? That was seriously ****.

Keane has just scored 22 goals in the MLS this season and while I know the MLS is not the premier league it is still fairly competitive so his confidence should be strong, plus he will be on a high after winning the MLS cup last week. He'll work harder than Cisse, hold the ball better bringing the midfield in better than Cisse, and going by Cisse's scoring record this year Keane should score more than him also. For 3 months I can't see any reason NOT to take him.

So we all agree that he could be good for us? Now higher force will do it's best to sabotage the deal. We're not going to get him

Not with ye there mate. I didn't want him to come for the last couple of years he was linked with us and I certainly don't want him now. Have you seen his performances for Ireland recently?

He's over the hill. Passed it. Washed up. Journey man. Mercenary.

We really are hilarious on this board!

So we're concerned that he might be an overpaid workshy mercenary; good job we don't have anyone like that at our club, or we'd be rightly ****ed by now. I looked up the definition for mercenary; Webster says 'one that serves merely for wages'. So all our crusading selfless warriors would be contaminated by anyone who would even consider what the fee would be before committing to the task. Best avoided so.
As for his horrendous scoring celebration, well we simply couldn't have that could we? Our guys have Kirov style celebrations to offer us, trouble is they might be a little rusty on the sequence as THEY HAVEN'T SCORED FOR ****ING AGES!!!!

If, horror of horrors, this loathsome reptile manages to hoodwink us ( tough job that) we will probably have to endure his goal scoring proficiency for two or three months before he ****s off back to the States to finish his contract. Yeah, we don't deserve him, along with a couple of other things we don't deserve.

    Yours, bemused.

Twins, that's an interesting piece. Not sure why you'd jump to the defence of R Keane so hastily. Yes he's Irish and he's done a great job for the National team but we're talking about QPR here.

The highlighted part is what I genuinely disagree with mate. We've already seen what over-paid, over-thirties, big names have done for team morale and the Club in general. In short it has been disastrous. No point in bringing in yet another one...........................................even if he is Irish!

Keane wont do it on his own. He,ll end up being a lone man like Cisse and now Mackie, totally isolated in the oppositions half.

Nothing to do with his nationality Swords. My exasperation is with the mindset that we can have any sweet in the shop that we have our little noses pressed up aagainst the window of. Who is going to come to us in January to do what our strikers haven't been able to do. Van Persie? Rooney? Defoe?

Perhaps sometime in the next millennium, but meanwhile we've already been holed by the iceberg and there aren't many ships around, mercenary or otherwise.

Even when he has had a poor game for club or country, nobody can ever say that RK does not run his bo**ox off for his team. He is one of the most prolific forwards to ever play in the Prem. His versatility means he is excellent at linking the midfield to the front men. He has scored more international goals than most top strikers have and this is while playing in a sh**e national team. He doesn't rely on his pace cause he has none. He is a clever player who has achieved more than all of our front men put together. All we are talking about here is a small loan fee and three months wages. It's a no brainer. Unfortunately I don't think we will be lucky enough to get him as much bigger clubs than us will be after him.

Fair point that mate. In an ideal World we could grow our own crop of young players like Arsenal but that's dreaming.

Interesting that Keane only came 8th in the "Ireland's greatest player" thing they were banging on about on "Off the ball" during the week.

Frank Stapleton was higher than him!
