if we had stuck with Brown we would either have gone out of business - as duffen and Bartlett would have continued funding his "marquu signings" (wasn't Bullard brought mainly to attract other top players to the club - and that policy failed). or we would be in league 1 with a squad divided. We did far better sacking the perma-tanned one (a joke among every other clubs fans, like the baseball cap wearer Pulis among non-stokies) and finally getting a decent young manager who can attract young talent not over the hill former talent who were just looking for 1 final pay day.
I'll get there before TWF does. Duffen left the club more than 6 months before Brown did, so he wouldn't have been able to keep lining his pockets by approving crooked deals for players.
If it were us who'd been Prem for 3 or 4 seasons now (whatever it is) and like was mentioned earlier, got to Cup finals and Europe, I'd be vibrating like a very cheap fridge. They've spent a lot of money? Well, you need to really. They play ugly? So what, only fanny clubs complain. They regularly topple the big clubs at home and there is a fear factor amongst a lot of clubs when they know they have to play them. I wish we had that. They play to their strengths and reap the rewards. I know they're unlikeable, but if it was your club, would that not just galvanise you further? We're in no position to mock them for their success.
my mistake Ricardo (Like someone else who claimed we would be relegated this season), but if Duffen had still been there would Brown have been put on gardening leave etc. it is a pity the allams weren't in charge during our pl campaigns.
