Rashford knew anyway, he was selected for the U21's as he's only had a few mins this season.

Few in there who don't deserve to be but it's as expected.

Didn't know that about Rashford. Hopefully he'll get his chance soon.

Personally surprised about Defoe though. I just thought, this one time, we might have a manager pulling in-form players into the squad, whether they get a game or not, especially so since Sam knows Defoe so well.

    I was wrong.

Genuinely surprised he's gone the bog standard route, expected him to actually shake it up a little.

    Shame.

Bottled it, were my thoughts... only Antonio is off FA-piste, but deserving a start.

I guess we all hope, every few years, that with the next England manager, a new broom sweeps clean.... and all that jazz, but Sam's forgone a friendly and gone straight into the first competitive match. And he can't gamble with unknowns in his first competitive match.

I just wish he'd thrown in an eye opener.

Edit: I guess he has with that young Hammers lad. Was hoping for more though.

I wonder if Defoe has told him he doesn't want the call up.

It's worth noting that the side Hodgson took to the Euros wasn't half bad, it was completely Hodgson's fault that they played such a shocking game, his tactics, his vision.

Now he's hiding like a ****ing coward. I hate him.

Where the **** is Barkley? Lallana, Sturridge and Walcott, should not be in there.

Sturridge wants away from Liverpool allegedly.

I rate the lad when he's not smashed an eyelash.

I for one am over the moon that Defoe hasn't been selected..We need to keep the lad fit and at his age the extra games would not be welcome..

Look at Sterling, mate. I was very vocal about him and that he shouldn't be in the England squad.

The way he has started this season, you couldn't leave him out. So far, he has been one of the most impressive players, this season.

Defoe 2 goals in 3 games, Allardyce cried about him not being in the squad, now he's left him out. Sturridge has looked woeful, Kane hasn't had a decent game yet and a **** Euro's. Barkley has been very impressive, but has been left out for the same old, same old, Adam Lallana.

Nothing has changed. I hope Moyes has Sunderland shooting up the table and that Allardyce is sacked after failing miserably. He's a coward and doesn't have the balls to shake it up, like people/himself, made out.

Sorry, forgot that it's impossible to be 'in-form' after 3 games.

Lads finishing last season on a high and carrying it over doesn't count either.

How many good games constitute being 'in-form'??

good point, Tel. He should do a much better job with the same squad. Let's see if he does.

But Walcott, Lallana shouldn't be in there again, Hendo & Sturridge certainly not now.

Barklay, Noble, Defoe could replace the latter 3. A wound-up toy could do better than Walcott.
