A picturesque little ground, in need of some tlc, although a brand new clubhouse and changing rooms improved things. Ampthill played very well, and ran out easy 5-1 winners for the crowd of around 65. £3 Concession admission £2 Programme £1 Badge £11.25 x 3 lagers Total outlay £17.25
The August bank holiday Monday is always enjoyable, the Sussex League always play at 11am, ample oppotunity for double headers. Unfortunately I was unable to get another game due to a prior commitment. Alfold v Pagham ended up 2-0 but there were so many chances combined with bad finishing, this game could have seen 7 or 8.
A rather basic ground but there was a tidy clubhouse which no doubt brings in much needed revenue. A crowd of around 75 was made up of about 10 hoppers, around 6 of them being Orient supporters. £3 concession admission £2 programme £4 teas and hot dog Total outlay £9
? Funny you should say that, my purple(knob) Timberland number from Northampton away will be making an appearance today.
Nah, straight to the ground and meeting a mate in the clubhouse. I like to feed the coffers of the club's bar.
Normally one before and one at half-time. Although at this level you can usually drink whilst watching the game, like me, all very civilised.
This was an FA Vase game, at the qualifying stage the games are regionalised. Both teams play in the Sussex League. Southwick is 15 minutes by train from Brighton, but as the ground and pubs I wanted to tick before the game were in Fishersgate I got off there, a stones throw from Southwick. The ground is in need of a bit of tlc but when you are getting crowds of 30 finding the funds can be difficult for small teams like this. Either way, I love grounds like this, they have plenty of character. Billingshurst won this shocking game 2-1, which was a very good result for them as in the previous four games they had conceded 16 goals. £2.50 Concession admission £1 programme £10.50 for 3 lagers Total outlay £14
OK, all tables & stats updated... I've saved the best for last this weekend; Rayners Lane FC vs Ampthill Town Saturday 7th September (part 1)
