Before my ramblings, once again many thanks to Mr Lardiman for getting these snaps up. I was able to visit a couple of boozers before the game. The 3 Crowns was fantastic, forget the exterior this is in CAMRA and they even served up a very decent lager for a non ale lover like me.
This game was a party for the 1,200+ Torquay fans who were celebrating winning the Conference South title the week previous. The match was made all ticket and after numerous calls/messages with Chippenham I was able to secure one and enjoy the wonderful weather and a cracking little mish mash of stands that this ground has. Chippenham won the game 2-1 played out like a pre-season friendly given Torquay being so relaxed after the previous weeks celebrations. £12 full admission £2.50 programme £4 badge £7 two pints Total outlay of £25.50
K Sports FC vs Fisher (again on Sunday 21st April) part 1 I'm not sure if the pubs belong in this post or the last one...
K Sports play in the Kent League, which makes sense, milllllll rejects Fisher play in Bermondsey, does not make sense! A rather bland ground with a main stand on one side, opposite some scaffolding for the guy to record the game. Behind one goal you will see one rather attractive property overlooking the poor fayre that was on offer. The game finishing 1-1 with a crowd of around 80 made up of about 30 spanners, sorry, I mean Fisher supporters. At this level this is a fantastic turnout from Bermondsey, normally the away following can be just the officials. Concession admission £4 Programme £2 Badge £3 2 Heinekens £8 Total outlay of £17
First and foremost, many to Mr IT Wizz, Sir Lardiman. AFC Blackpool was the 15.00 k/o in the double header with Fyle v Halifax being a 12.30 start, fortunately only 20 minutes away by taxi. A North West Counties Division 1 North game was played in very blustery and wet conditions. About 40 watched the game, with a very respectable 10 from Manchester, the other 15'ish stayed in the bar.
This ground was the best I have done in a long, long time. As you will see, the ground is a total mess but we are talking character here. A stand on each side and untouched for many years. AFC Blackpool won 1-0 in the last 3 minutes, a shame we missed the goal as we were in the taxi taking us back to Blackpool North for the trip home. Concession admission £3 Badge £3 3 beers £9 Total outlay £15, plus £27 taxi fares
AFC Fylde v Halifax Town ... last Sunday Fylde do have a smart front to their ground... Looks a bit like a Land Rover showroom.
Mr Lardiman. This game was the first in a double header last Saturday, the other game being as shown earlier 8 miles from Fylde, AFC Blackpool. Fylde v Halifax completed all the National Conference for me. Halifax won this 2-0 very easily, although Fylde were resting a lot of their team for the play-off match the following Wednesday. A very bland ground but very acceptable for Fylde who are now one game away from League 2. I wonder if their average gate of 1,600 will increase much should they go up? Full admission £14 Programme £3 2 Coffees £3 Total outlay £20
