OMG. Mildenhall drops the ball and great chance for a rebound but hit over the bar. We were lucky then. FULL TIME: WE WON!!!!!!
Southport 1 MACCS 1 Wrexham 1 BARNET 0 (Akinde sent off) Alty 2 FGR 2 EASTLEIGH 1 Torquay 2 KIDDY 1 WOKING 1 Every result went our way! Great stuff!
Dropped. Not for doing anything wrong though. No subs were actually used today either! DC just said in post match interview.... 4 outfield players who started today had slight niggles so wanted good cover on the bench.
From the teams in the top half, we still have to play... Maccs away Kiddy away Halifax away Gateshead away Eastleigh home Chester home 12 games left and half of them is against top half opposition.
Massive result for you yesterday - it will be interesting to see if Barnet crack with the pressure that's now being applied to them A month ago I did not think you could catch Barnet - now I really think it's on By the way - I think I said on this board last year that I had a lot of time for Darrell Clarke and they way he fronted up after relegation - he deserves this success
The managers post match comments Today's fixture at Blundell Park was deemed one of Rovers toughest away fixtures of the season and Darrell Clarke's men have come away with all three points which has delighted the Rovers boss. "I thought the performance was brilliant in what was a bit of a 'hum-dinger' of a game. "I think we edge the game if I'm being honest because we created more chances against a very good Grimsby team today and it is good for us to be taking all three points back to Bristol. "I think we deserved to win today, the mental strength of the lads was fantastic today. They could have come in at half time having missed a penalty and been mentally weak, but we didn't. "The game was scruffy in spells but there was periods of the game where we tried to play it and we did play some good stuff at times. "Matty [Taylor] put in a great performance before and after missing the penalty and all of the lads kept going until the very end. "Everyone in this group needs to be mentally strong because they are playing for Bristol Rovers. "It was 13 cup finals before today, now it's 12 and we need to keep concentrating on our own business. "I would like a special mention for all the supporters that made the trip today because they were absolutely fantastic and never stopped signing and kept the players going right till the end. The game was settled by Tom Lockyer's second half strike and the manager was incredibly happy for him to get on the score sheet this afternoon. "Tom [Lockyer] is a prime example of everything I want at this football club, I can't speak highly enough of him. "He was one of the players hurting from what happened here last season and it is nice for him to get the winning goal today. Rovers were awarded a penalty in the first half for a challenge on Nathan Blissett inside the penalty area and Darrell thought that the officials got the decision right. "I will have to view it again, but at first look he has won the header then the keeper has taken him out. "Anywhere else on the pitch it is a free kick and that was my initial assessment of it so for me it looks like a penalty. "Matty [Taylor] should have scored but it is how players bounce back from disappointment and Matty is one of this group of players that will just go again as if nothing has happened.
4 wins out of our last 6 visits to Grimsby. I followed the game on the BBC website's live text and going by the stats we were clearly the better side and asking most of the questions. Fantastic result, but the two home games coming up are not bankers. Altrincham in particular are in great form.
We have to follow up yesterdays result with 2 wins from the next 2 games which are home games. As AMOT said, they are not bankers but its no good beating Grimsby away if we then lose to Braintree at home!!
Our goal looks like a bit of a fluke! Keeper must do better. Looked like a Lockyer was setting up the cross but miss hit it and beat the keeper!
