"Did you ever see him play? His partnership with Hansen was just immense!" lawrenson was quicker than hansen, a better header of the ball, a better tackler by far and was physically stronger. Graeme Sharp (as good and talented as bruiser in the game in the 80's) always took Hansen on and usually bettered him. Lawron always gave back as good as he got (like Thompson). I think Lawro's ghastly performance as a pundit has poisened a lot of fans' memories of him. But here's a point, like a lot of classy centre-backs (like Hughes and Smith: Beckenbauer, Passerella and others, lawrenson was comfortable in midfield, and he could easily play at fullback too (witness the trainwreck that was Skrtel against Spurs last season to appreciate that's not always easy). Hansen always looked elegant on the ball though...
Lawro is the best player Liverpool ever had.Although i 'm a Spurs fan i am lucky enough to Remember, the liverpool team that ruled Europe.Lawro was immense,.o.k. he is rubbish as a pundit, but as a player he was second to none.
