We seam to be forgetting the 66/67 side with the exception of Rodney, possible the 2nd best side we ever had.
Seaman Clement Parker Peacock McDonald Thomas Francis Taarabt Sinclair Sir Les Bowles Marsh Given Sorry roller didn't read it all as on phone
Classic thread in every sense of the word. Classic OP too Hammer... done me head in - what were you on writing that all out? Great stuff, you've really got us going now!! They probably wouldn't feature as the greatest Rs XI, but I reckon my lot would take some beating. (I'm blending the old style 2,3,5 formation with the modern six subs - it's called taking the biscuit!) Parkes Clement, Sansom Venables, MacDonald, Masson Bridges, Currie, Ferdinand, Bowles, Morgan (R) Subs: Seaman, Wicks, Parker, Roeder, Marsh, Thomas Manager: Jago (to really gel them up) What? No room for the likes of Springett, Kelly, Hucker, Woods, Stejskal, Bardsley, Hazel, Wilson, Keen, Fenwick, Hunt, McLintock, Hollins, Webb, Mancini, Impey, Francis (G or T), Holloway, the Allens, Clarke, Goddard, Lazarus, Sinton, Sinclair, Rogers, Morgan (I), Givens etc. etc. etc.?? Just shows how good we've had it in recent decades dunnit!? PS - Terry Venables WAS an incredible player and captain - every bit as good as he was a manager.
1. Paddy Kenny 2. Don Shanks 3. Mark Dennis 4. Gavin Maguire 5. Bob Hazell 6. Glenn Roeder 7. David Pizanti 8. Micky Flanagan 9. Rashid Harcouk 10.Paul Goddard 11. Steve Burke Sub Wayne Fereday
Best TEAM? 75-76 intact with Sir Les Instead of Givens, which is rough on Don. Many other great players, some of whom may have been individually better than their counterparts in this team, but these guys inspired 100% confidence in they way they worked together - no weaknesses.
