Team Maradona wins. Much more balanced side. I'd need a tin hat for this and obviously we're talking at the absolute pinnacle of the game here, but I'm not sure Pirlo belongs there.
He was a magician, who would you replace him with? I'd be tempted to swap him out for Deschamps, Dunga, Makelele type player just to give a bit of balance
He was obviously brilliant. I mean this is a debate about elite players, I'm not for one second saying he was ****. Busquets would be the obvious one for me as a great "fit". I'd even be tempted to say Rodri could be the perfect fit for that team. Iniesta is the big midfielder missing from the group. But I think Pirlo is in a group of midfielders that is just the slightly second tier down from the unquestionable greats. In the group with Modric, Rijkaard, Seedorf, Kroos, Laudrup (I appreciate they're all different kinds of midfielder).
Loved watching him. Funny that as soon as he started getting old Spain just produced Rodri to do the exact same thing
That Barca team was different class and each player knew their role and what other should do. Madrid where a team of individuals imo. I say Barca would win more than not
Been thinking about the original teams again. I'm unsure if Pirlo and Xavi are mobile enough to deal with Maradona (what a crazy sentence).
Fell top puts together a list of some of the most gifted players ever to have the ball at their feet and we're all discussing who's going to do the ratting
