I only hope that Wickham is not just thrown to the wolves in the EPL and expected to score 15 goals. He needs time and easing into the team. We still need an experienced and ready to play now striker. Won likewise will require time and patience. This leaves Sess and Gyan again and thats a worry at the minute. However, its an area in feel sure SB will be looking at.

I wonder where the width is coming from in this team. We will play frustrating fail football unless Bruce has a plan to give us much needed width.

Dong at Whickam have both played on the left before, add to that Sess. Bruce may feel he has enough to go with on the left.
If this is the case I would expect the bulk of our cash will go on a world class striker and a good left footed wingback.

I would agree with most said- I feel we need:

LB or RB (Bardo the other side; I'd prefer a left footed LB with Bardo on the right)
    LW (left footer please)
CB (R. Johnson my preferred option- Dann and Samba likely beyond us sadly)
    ST

...I don't think we need two strikers. One experienced one would be good. If we get 2 more, then when FC is fit we'll be juggling 6. In fact if we get a left winger, I wouldn't mind if we didn't get another ST, as away/tough games we'd probably play with Sess just off Gyan.

Even if we didn't buy another striker and got Danny back, I'd be happy- we'd still have Gyan, Wickham, Campbell and Dong at the season's end.

Definatly a LB, CB and CF. I could see is possibly getting 2 CF with one of them being Welbeck on loan. That way it would give Dong a year to settle and we would have 3 players infront of Wickham and we can slowly bed him in as well. It wouldnt be a bad to have a strikeforce of Gyan, ???, Welbeck and Wickham to choose from.

Well one things for sure we need a striker.

Or else come Jan it's gonna be Wickham and Dong up front. No time for bedding them in slowly, one will have to hit the ground running.

Hopefully Fraizer is on the mend by then, or it'll be a quick panic buy come that time. But sure Bruce is working on this one right now.

All this talk about Sess on the left-is that not one of the reasons why he left his last club as he dislikes playing in that position, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Thats why i could see possibly 2 more strikers coming in. Bruce and Quinny constantly keep talking about 6 strikers so i think we will get Welbeck on loan again and another striker. Thats ganna take some of the pressure of Wickham and then when Gyan goes to the African nations we will have Welbeck, ???, Wickham and hopefully Fraizer

Sess left his last club as he had a falling out with the manager. Apparently the manager belittled him in a live interview or something like that.

Think i must be alone in thinking we ain't gonna get Wellbeck.

That's why we are linked with others.

Carew told us to **** off when we were looking for Quinn's replacement. As we were too small for him.
I'm quite happy to tell him to **** off now, too old too slow. Let him collect his pension elsewhere. <ok>

I see Richardson has reared his head at LB in the comments, and Bardsley benched!!!!
Richardson is the worst LB I have had the misfortune to watch.

I wouldnt bench Bardsley, i wouldmove him to RB. Players like him are invaluable as win, loose or draw he is always wanting to compete and his work ethic is 2nd to none (on and off the pitch). He is a bit like Chris Makin but can shoot and probs wont shag the other players misses either, lol.

Definetly a left back, O shea would be great one more midfielder and D J cambell for a couple of million, and i will be happy.

I think the squad is improving with the recent signings and if the three MU players come on board then we will be tough to beat (I hope). Yes there are one or two areas that it would be great to improve on either now or in January but I feel the big leap forward will be when we sign a player who can control a game. All to often when we are defending a lead we look too vulnerable and desperately need a cool head in midfield who can dictate the play and if necessary, run down the clock. I'm not expecting such a signing in the near future but that willl be a huge step up in our aspirations when we get one in that mould.

Definitely still need a LB and CB but am sure thats why we are pursuing O'Shea and Brown. Personally would love to see Jonny Evans back here rather than Brown, but I guess Sir Alex will want him for backup if hes offloading the other 2. IMO Midfield is pretty solid now and would prefer to see how things pan out rather than buy players who will just sit on the bench and twist about it.

Like BruceysBeak I think Sess could be out little secret weapon this year. Towards the end of the season he was starting to show his class.

It may have been mentioned in another thread but I was also wondering whether we should try to get SKP here in the role of a striking coach. or even a backup player? He's miles better than John Carew or some of the other options we've talked about on here. Just think what he could teach some of the younguns, about being a model professional as well as how to be a great finisher. And what a psychological boost it would give us first home game of the season eh? The roof would come off!!!

Well we do need more bodies around in the squad than last year. So yes a CB be it O' Shea or Dunn? It may be unlikely as the spuds will be too tight about a fee and Hutton may expect big wages, but if we got him as a RB McBardo and Rico can fight for the LB slot. Up front we now have a couple of unproven kids, the odds are one will be good the other not, so I expect a more experienced Pro to be brought in and it would be good if he had EPL experience. So could be expensive and I am not sure who, the Beanpole with the new wife may be OK, not so happy about Vermain, I think a big lad is preferred, we were bullied too often last season all round the pitch.

I thought Sess could play left wing? the tale of N'insomia has gone on for so long I cannot be bothered with him any more, although I suspect it is Wigan hanging on for more cash and N'insomnia for high wages that are the two sticking points. Darren Gibson may be good buy and hopefully with Mayler back at some point, Clatterhard can hand the captain's badge over to say O'Shea.

If we get everyone in I may have to go to the Hartlepool warm-up game if this keeps up.

Defence.... Left fullback and a central defender should now be the top priorities.
