London is a beautiful city. I try to do everything every time I visit, and when I visit again there is more to do. Londoners have a reputation of being unapproachable uninterested people, but I am yet to witness that I've always found them to be quite friendly and helpful

I lived there for a year and spent the whole time desperate to leave, as you said it has some beautiful architecture and tourist spots but as a Monday to Friday city I couldn't stand it. The only time the place was remotely bearable was during the Olympics <ok>

I also couldn't get my head around the fact that my Brother, a mate and I all lived in london but were all 2 hours apart! <yikes> Tooting Bec to Ealing Broadway was a journey I certainly do not miss.
I put it all down to be a simple country lad who couldn't take in the bright lights and the fact that the (vast majority) of people are as arrogant and self absorbed as you can get, nice place to visit but ruined by the fact that everyone seems to aspire to be there and not accept that it's a ridiculous place to try and live.

I hear ya KOPR - and i also don't miss the journey from Tooting Broadway to Camden every day...and like you, couldn't wait to get out of London. I now live a simple life in the country...tis a shame really, as London seems to be taken over by Burka's and Sari's...and London is NOT f'ing cosmopolitan, it's an f'ing sh!thole full of foreign ponces! (apologies if this is the wrong thread to be venting by frustration)

Back to fish and chips in my younger days I used to do a lot of beach fishing hence my appreciation of Dunwich and Minsmere
used to enjoy Dunwich so much as could cast out leave one in charge of rods walk to pub for a few beers then back to that brilliant chippie in the car park , the fish straight from the boat great times! Is that chippie still there?

Close to home I have to agree the Dunwich Minsmere area can't be beaten(special mention for the Eel's Foot at Eastbridge)
I've also had some really great holidays in Asia and have been privileged to visit Thailand ,Vietnam,Indonesia,Cambodia Malaysia and Laos. The people, food ,sights, beaches and culture are out of this world.
