In the prem era,Nobody in terms of overseas players matched Sami, for professionalism.Dirk Kuyt is getting really close to being regarded in the same light. In my opinion Sami Hyypia is up with the best when it comes to model profesionalism and that list includes Dennis Bergkamp and Gianfranco Zola.Again Dirk Kuyt will be eventually added to that list as he's the same sort of character.
Im going to be an evil ****er and say.... Dalglish.... last time I checked if you called him english he burst a vein. In the Prem era...........hypia, hamman
It was not just mental problems though as otherwise he would have improved as soon as he went to chelsea, there must have been something wrong with his body.
Jan Molby..The Man, loved us so much he got an accent, scored one of the greatest goals of all time against the manc's and was the best passer of a ball i've ever seen.
Why has no-one (other than UiR) mentioned Dalglish. He is Scottish not English. The OP wanted the best non-englishman... quite clearly it is Dalglish!!
LOL... that's why then!! Has to be Hypia or Alonso then. P.S. football was around before the premiership!
It was mostly confidence an belief. The worst thing you could do when you have such little self belief is become the most expensive transfer in Premier League history. The pressure was to much.
Said it before, it's not Torres. They've kidnapped him and replaced him with some bloke who looks like him but has got two left feet. Either that or it's an Invasion of the Body Snatchers thing. There've been lots of foreigners in the Prem so it's hard to choose. Reina, Alonso, the real Torres. I'd have to go for either Hyypia or Hamann. Probably Sami, He and Henchoz with Didi in front of them made us hard to beat again. Before the Prem it has to be Jan.
Imo it's just cos Chelsea won't play the way he wants them to. They are still focused on the brute force Drogba / Lampard approach rather than the quick through ball / balls over the top he thrived on for Liverpool. Chelsea very rarely put him in a situation where he is in a foot race with the last man, which is when he is at his most dangerous. That's how Liverpool got the best out of him with Alonso playing balls that would get him into that situation. As has been said before, he went downhill rapidly when Alonso left. Maybe partly cos of the lack of Spanish players as was said above, but maybe also cos of the loss of Liverpool's only real midfield playmaker.
Nando, has issues that are not football, has talent, head not right at all. Even not used as he should be, still should be contributing far more than just goals given his natural gifts, he CAN take up positions where he can use that pace, against United he did it once ONLY and when he did, he left Rafael in a cloud of dust. Every other time he gets the ball and makes wrong wrong wrong decisions. When he played for Liverpool and was banging in all those goals, he plently of times received the ball in the same positions he is getting hte ball at Chelsea and he was scoring for fun. He was enjoying his football he was playing with several spanish players, I wonder how much of an affect that had on him?
If Chelsea want to get the best out of Torres, then they need a good playmaker, he needs creative players around him and he needs to be the lone striker. Silva would be good shout (even though Man City wouldn't let him go) but the likes of Banega and Fabregas would get him firing again if they could concentrate their attacks onto him.
His form before joining chelsea was starting to pick up as well 3 goals in his last 4 games and his performances were picking up, it then went to pot as he put a blue shirt on
