the thing that annoyed me most about fab was the fact that he let other disrespect our club and did nothing about it. barca and every barca player was constantly talking about him, and even the mayor of his home town came out and claimed we were holding him hostage. He was clearly friendly with these players and should have phoned them up and explained that he wanted then to show some respect to arsenal and not talk about it. for me the really disappointing thing was the barca shirt incident where all the Spanish players put the barca shirt on him, if that's not disrespectful to arsenal i don't know what is. maybe cesc was to gutless to tell these players enough was enough and that they should show arsenal some respect. Either way if he knew the transfer was going to happen what harm would it have done to phone up pique and iniesta and ask then not to talk about the transfer as it showed a lack of respect to arsenal and arsenal fans?
so why are people banging on about cesc loving the club and being a legend, he was desperate to get away and quite happy for others to **** all over us, hardly the actions of an arsenal legend and a man that loves the club in my opinion
I think towards the end of his Arsenal career, he got disillusioned with life at Arsenal, and was rightly seeking an exit. There was no sign of us making major investments to take us forward and Cesc wanted more, because at that point, he had only won one FA Cup in club football, and was seeing his mates at Barca win every trophy in sight.
Exactly. He made the right move for every reason - he's part of a far more successful team, he's at his home club, he's likely getting better pay too. I think the pining for him is a little desperate, as if we are a ditched mistress of a man who has went back to his wife. He might well say he still loves the club, but who cares? If Wenger signs him I'd be happy that we had one of the best midfielders in the world at the team, but other than that I don't think his off-field comments about Arsenal are worth paying much attention to.
