    This must be one of the most awe--inspiring opening scenes to any film...Pity the rest of it never quite lived up to it.

Being a useless twat I don't know how to put up the clips, so I hope a more adept poster can find some of them and put them up. Agree with 9's that De Niro is a great actor,but I think the accolade of the greatest ever must be between Cagney(my personal favourite) or Brando !

    On the Waterfront- I could've been a contender
    Gallipoli- Final scene
    Platoon-The death of Elias
    The Deerhunter-Russian roulette scene in Nam
    Fantasia (just for you Beth)- The Sorcerer's Apprentice

    'The Lives Of Others' has to be one of my favourite all-time films despite being in German with subtitles. Gripping, moving, thought provoking, poignant and with excellent performances from the main protagonists.
