Look, I'm not interested in a protracted argument about this- especially as you seem to support them. All I'll say is that to try and distil the complex social and economic problems of a nation into a single issue ( independence from Europe) is naive and owes more to their sentimentality about a perceived golden age than any practical strategy for the future.
The fact that they bring in some other policies is just a blind to obscure the fact that they think that all of our problems stem from being in Europe and can be solved by being out of it.

Single-issue parties can never function any higher than a pressure-group to try and get said issue discussed more seriously.

Could you honestly see this country being led into a bright future by Nigel Farage?

I don't think realistically UKIP will ever be running the country. I do think they could gain enough support to put pressure on a government to give us a referendum on the EU which I think would be a good thing. There is an entire generation who haven't had a say on the EU. I also think UKIP could be an important tool in changing the two party system of unanswerable elite MPs. (Same with a couple of the other smaller parties).

But in general this latest UKIP manifesto is pretty well put together with some good ideas.

It's disturbing that people can actually arrive at the conclusion that a vote for UKIP is actually the way they should go.

They attract protest votes at local and European elections, but anyone actually seeing them as being credible Govt material shouldn't be allowed out alone.

I may not agree with UKIP's philosophy but if they're trying to show their financial position by using a 3rd party, even IF it's not fully costed, it's still a step in the right direction and better than the others.

The 'costing' was nothing more than a PR stunt and that was my point, as it took no account of the potential effects of their prime aim. They're dangerous because Farage is quite an amiable chap, who appeals to 'normal' blokes as he likes a pint and shoots from the hip.

 

Both good arguments. I do think UKIP dont do themselves any good by 1) bringing EVERYTHING down to the lowest common denominator of immigration and europe. And 2) the constant xenophobic undertones in everything every one of their representatives come out with PARTICULARLY Farage.

 

We deserve the politicians we get. Who cared that Brown was actually a bloody good politician, ppl didnt like his PR image. The vast majority of the general public approach politics like an X Factor competition sadly. Look at Obama, talked the talk but beneath the gloss proved to be the most shallow, plastic sell-out president ever.
