Its on at Aintree at 17:15 on Saturday.

Anyone have any tips? Don't know who I will back yet.

Does anyone know where the database is where you can put in the horses weight, then the horses number like 150 or whatever, then how big his wins were, and how long since the last race, etc? I used to have it bookmarked but I don't have anymore for some reason and I can't find it. Invaluable bit of kit to get the winners,

I've taken Bristol de Mai. I always back it and I love a grey horse, that's my only reasoning. I took 28/1, might put a bit more on if the price goes out, if it comes in I'll probably pick another horse. Too hard a race to pick so might aswell guess

The Irish National last week had a 150/1 winner

    I've gone £5 e/w on

    Burrows Saint 15/2
    Mister Malarky 20/1
    Bristol De Mai 28/1
    Lake View Lad 66/1

By the way, the ground is currently hard and frosty. I know because I was stood on it 5 minutes ago <laugh>

It's a very weird atmosphere here this year with only owners and background staff here. There are usually over 100 of us staying in caravans inside the course on the driving range. This year there are 8 of us!!!

Looks fresh. Looks lovely. I’m not sure who I’m backing yet. Gonna see how the ground develops.

It's a joke of a race. Killing horses for human pleasure. Disgusting.

Each to their own but essentially not true.

    Also. From the BBC.

What about safety? Significant changes were introduced before the 2013 race which saw the core of fences softened, the distance reduced and new procedures for loose horses. There was one equine fatality in the race last year - the first from a total of 276 runners in the past seven editions.

It is true. The fences are too big and there is too many runners.
It's all done for the betting industry to make money and for the pleasure of the punters.

It is difficult to look beyond Cloth Cap and Burrows Saint for the class in the race. Cloth Cap has improved 2st since the weights were announced so is ridiculously well handicapped. On normal racing parameters it should piss it. But this is the National, its a long way and there is a lot going on. Different game to the races its improved in. Then you have a large irish contingent as always and they are wily as they come. Burrows Saint wasn't trying fully when beaten by its stablemate and is a real class act. Prices of 5/1 and 15/2 for those though are as tight as in a National.

My outsiders would be in no particular order:

Mister Marlarky 20/1 - different horse when getting good ground and long been thought of as a winner of big staying handicaps by the trainer
Magic of Light 14/1 - 2nd in the 2019 running - beaten only by the great Tiger Roll. Didn't take part last year. Difficult to see it out of the first 6 home.
Talkischeap 40/1 - absolute chancer this, not guaranteed to stay, out of form, trainer hates the race, but I watched it romp home over 3m5f at Sandown and I decided then if it ran a national on goodish ground I was backing it.
Hogans Height 100/1 - Completely based on form it showed over these fences in 2019. Romped home, loved them. Massive punt in the dark. Interesting trainer has run it over hurdles and a cross country race to protect its chasing mark.
Potters Corner 22/1 - Missus picked this cause she likes Harry Potter. Guaranteed stayer though having won welsh and midlands national. Like Hogans Height interesting trainer has run it over hurdles and a cross country race to protect its chasing mark.

    Good luck to all
