We’ve got the tyre compound jump again this weekend. We’re two for two so far in terms of it not adding anything / being worse - Mexico isn’t particularly hard on tyres so I’m not anticipating anything here either. It’s also not a circuit that throws up much chaos, so expecting the championship contenders to be up front come the end. This was a Norris circuit last year, until last weekend Piastri had effectively closed the gap at those, will be interesting to see what happens there. The Honda engine being relatively stronger at Altitude and the long straight exacerbating theMcLaren DRS weakness makes this a good opportunity for Max to get pole, but the long run to turn 1 often makes pole a bad place to be.

I’m hopeful of a 3-2-1 finish in terms of championship order just to close things up again.

Max does look fast but his tyres seemed to go off quite quick. Not sure on the others tyre wear but Max as commenting about it! That said, Red Bull do seem very good at data analysis and finding setup solutions for Saturday and Sunday.

I look at the FP3 times and wonder if there was a tail-wind down the straight for Lewis and Lando.
 
You have to say now that Norris looks the man most likely - the form is with him and he’s got the best car.
 
Going to be a fascinating race, I wonder how aggressive Lando is in turn 1 Vs the Ferrari's. They have nothing to lose, whilst Lando knows even P3 by the end of lap 1 puts him in a strong position to close the gap to Piastri.

I for one would love to see Lando regain the championship lead today.
If the top three finish as they start, I would be happy (although will make the race itself boring) but I seriously doubt that will happen.

One Ferrari should end up leading the first lap I think, but if both pass Norris they could play some games to open a gap and prevent him using his long run pace to under/overcut. McLaren seem to be running more downforce than any of their competitors, so I think they might struggle to pass on track. We could see strategy being particularly important, with both Oscar and Max needing to move forward. Max in particular seems to have a car that’s very evenly matched with the Merc’s around him, but really needs to be getting into the fight with Ferrari to keep his championship even remotely alive.

If it's down to Ferrari strat then they don't have much hope - well unless they have sorted that out - I hope they have it would be nice to see them on the top step at least once this year.

To be fair to them they got the strategy right in Texas with Leclerc. Ferrari strategy ineptitude is as bit of a joke, but when you look a bit deeper they’re not bad at planning imho, it’s the reactive stuff they always seem to mess up.

I would like a Ferrari win .
Preferably a 1-2

Lewis to win .
Vasseur and the racing team deserve it .
I want a Williams third .

WDC wise , ultimately I want to see Oscar as champion .


None of the above is likely to happen , including Oscar to be WDC , but that’s what I want to happen .
