He knows how we play, knows where we play knows what to expect. Which is more than the legend Brendan did - oh I forgot his stellar record was doing alright for a short while - jumping ship and totally f**king up but he did OK with us - We don't want the glamour boys who will only play for the Big Names - we want capable players who want to play for Swansea City - Can Jones find those that's the only question

DPJ fair point re attracting players, but to be honest I don't know the football world behind the scenes that well, and I maybe being naive and totally wrong here, but only as a food for thought some of these guys surprise me with contacts you never guess they would have. We don't know what contacts he's built up in the past 3 years.. only thoughts

Believe me!!! Graham Jones is the main man , not Roberto- he knows it,Roberto knows it and Whelan knows it. Most importantly Huw knows it.It will be a great appointment!!!

They have got to be joking me> yes if we were a league 1 club> we are a PL club and as such should be looking for somebody with experience of actually managing a club. Somone who will actually attract players and will make players want to stay.

I have always believed in our board but if they go with this then thats all the faith gone.

    Simply, no ****ing way

It's all very well being cheap if we get relegted then it becomes very expensive and as for GJ being the main man he may well be. but he is the main man in a team that has spent and avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth. I hope wigan keep him.

When we appointed Roberto Martinez everyone was like "What the f*ck?"

When we appointed Brendan Rodgers 90% of supporters were extremely underwhelmed.

Regardless of if you think we could "do better" or not let's give our 100% support to GJ if he's given the job, there were plenty of worse candidates on that list that's for sure.

Look at the positives, GJ allegedly has a very healthy relationship with our players & board, he shares our footballing beliefs, he used to take the training sessions when Martinez was here and he sourced many of our fantastic cheap signings so who knows what he could do with a few quid to spend, and on top of that the board have a fantastic track record in appointing managers.

Can we stop with this "big name" sh!t, we're starting to sound like a bunch of muppet plastic fans.

I'd rather GJ than "someone of experience" (Experience of being shyte!) like Steve Bruce, Alex McLeish, etc, any day of the week.

    In Jenkins we trust!

How many players are still here in the first team squad since he left. we can all say good things there are a few pros, but what about these points.
    1. zero experience as a no.1 Call me old fashioned but in the best and most difficult league in the world, would like someone who has a bit of experience as a no.1.
    2. has been no.2 in a club that has struggled to survive with a lot more to spend than us.
    3. defensively Wigan are about as bad as it gets. Presumably coached by GJ. how many shots can vorm save.
    4. Not a name that will entice players to the club.
    5. Not a name that will want to make players stay at the club.

Maybe i have been a little bit harsh, but this is the reality.

milfy, you say about plastics wanting big names. Why can't we have someone of experience who is good, don't have to have someone of experience who is shyte. I am no plastic and have been a season ticket holder for 30 years. I just feel we have moved on from having peoples seconds and only because we can afford the cheap option, because the cheap option may turn out to be very expensive if we get relegated. We are a club now that people would want to manage.

This is the biggest appointment in our clubs history we have to get it right. I may be wrong but GJ is a massive step backwards. We have moved on now and should never go back. It doesnt work.

No just detach yourselves from thinking that it wouldn't happen again and if it happens you won't feel so bad (try it ,better than any anger management course )

cant slate him before he has even done anything wrong, I am with the 'In Huw we trust' camp.

Liverpool fans are gutted to have Rodgers, and they haven't given him a chance, lets not be like the short sighted scousers.

Pretty happy actually if we sign Jones , we don't need a big name that doesn't understand the program . We just need someone who does understand the program , cheaper the better . The team will run itself , just a bit of an overseer is all we need .We are Premier League , players will want to come to us regardless of whose left us as manager & whose coming in as manager . 5 million more to spend .... beauty !!

The usual journeymen appear on the bookies list for next Swans manager.

There are some not so well suited to Swansea City on the list but there are some experienced names that are exciting and
look ideal to take us on. There are some less experienced names that jump out at you as potentially the right person.

There's continuity with Graham Jones and he's obviously well respected and highly rated at the Liberty corridors of power.
You have to look at managers who know the European market and the style and levels we're coached to. What backroom staff come with that manager?
Does the manager have experience? How does he handle the media? How well does he know Swansea and what the board here are setting out to achieve?
Above all , can he implement a style A, B & C that can win premiership games.

It's a huge task for Chairman Jenkins . I'm sure he , along with Martin Morgan and the other directors will consult the right people and appoint the right man to succeed at Swansea City

Cracker, great post mate. All well and good getting someone with experience, but if they don't know our system, then it isn't going to work.

I think we have to take the attitude that (because we don't have a choice) Huw Jenkins has picked the last four managers and picked well. Jackett got us promotion to League 1 as champions. Roberto got us into the Championship as champions. Sousa gave us our highest ever finish and Brendan took us up to the greatest division on the planet.

If Huw wants Graeme Jones, let's see what Graeme Jones can do.

It's time for a bit of faith.
