The next-generation GP3 car was launched at Monza on Thursday, ahead of the 2012 season finale weekend.

The new GP3/13 machine, which features a 400bhp normally-aspirated V6 engine in place of the current 280bhp turbo unit, will be used in the Formula 1-supporting series from next season. The hike in power is key to series organisers' aims to improve the effectiveness of GP3 as a preparation series for drivers destined for GP2 and then F1.

Getting it more in line with GP2 with a smaller step up. Can only be a good thing if they do keep the costs down.
