Does anyone else get gout?

I'm 32 and just having my first proper attack of it in my big toe, ouch.

My dad started getting it in his 30's aswell.

My dads been a frequent sufferer and I’ve had it a couple of times. Main reason why I now drink a lot less. It’s ****ing awful.

I think it's down to what you drunk tbh - ie Port and anything else that's a main cause.

I drink like there's no tomorrow and I've never had it.

Mine first started about age of 45. For a few years i thought it was just the old toe breaks from football years causing the pain. At times i couldn't walk it was so bad. Then the sister-in-law began medical training and suggested it was gout. Now on Allpurinol tablets twice a day - no attacks for about 4 years and I like my alcohol. I've read its more about food and not booze specifically - eg oily fish / mushrooms can causing to flare up bizzarely and they are usually considered to be healthy. Your GP should be able to sort you out pretty quickly.

Yes I get it and have had to pretty much go tea total as drinking sets mine off bad. I've been a lot healthier with food and exercise last couple of years so that's helped to avoid any more bouts of gout.

Drink lots of water too.

Its due to build up of Urea crystals in your blood. These cause pain in the joints. You can control it by managing your diet as others have said. Red wine is particularly bad for it as are red meats.

Oh and steer clear of the roasted peacock.
