He's a good player, a very good player, but there is a reason so that the most expensive players in the world are all forwards... because goals win games at the end of the day and the ones that stick the ball in the net are the hardest to find. said on your board, you could have spent that £100m on 2 players who would both improve your all round midfield, a DM like Kante and then a playmaker. Pogba can do a bit of both to a high level, but could easily get 2 players to do both parts to an exceptional level. Anyway, this is about Skrtel, even if he has been bad, doesn't deserve his thread derailing about a United ex player!
I wouldn't really read too much into International performances. Look at the general performances of players like Ronaldo & Messi at international tournaments. I think they've had 1 or 2 good tournaments each at most.
I have to agree with this. I don't believe he deserved the level of abuse he got from supporters. He played to the best of his ability, never complained if he wasn't starting and chipped in with a lot of memorable goals over the years. He was probably one of our most consistent players in those turbulent few years from 2010-2013 and those seasons would have been even more grim without him in the side. He played over 319 games for us and should command more respect than he does, especially when you consider the amount of love shown to players like Toure, Biscan & Traore who really didn't make anywhere near the impact Skrtel did.
I don't normally but never watch Italian football so it is all I have to go off. He was the 3rd best player in his possiton in his team, not even in the tournament.
True... I'd probably be more worried about the fact he hasn't turned up for the 2 biggest games of his career so far ( CL & Euros final!!)

Pogba was brilliant for Juventus all of last season. You would have to be silly to base your opinion on a few games in an international tournament - some people would rather have Sissoko who was a coward for Newcastle. Anyways, going back to Skrtel - he is an awful defender. But one who gave his all, acted professionally and didn't complain. Will never rate him as a footballer but he's certainly a good professional.
Never watch the Italian league (it's boring), but would not judge anyone on a slow league with little competition. Everything else I agree with in full, especially the part about Skirtle being a good professional
