ivoralljack; DragonPhill et al Apologies to you. You are quite right, I should not shout down my own, we get enough of that from the many trolls who love to visit us. The issue I have is that I have always had problem with unfounded negativity, especially when it is aimed at my team. For me the constant negativity I find on this board sucks the life out of many arguments and debates. I became frustrated simply by the title of this thread and reacted badly. I apologies to all who took umbrage. You do have a right to your opinions and I should act accordingly, less childishly, and respect that. I strongly believe we will remain an EPL team when this season is through, I believe we have a decent squad bulging with talent and I believe ML is a better manager than we give him credit for. All friends, all Jacks
A very intresting Article, good to see an opinon being defended to the hilt..and Laudrup thought the same! I cant comment as i didnt see the game, if anybody other than Ivoralljack would have wrote this Article there would have been cries of disbeleif from certain corners of the board. Well done Ivor, say what you think when you think it ..the way it should be
Stumpy much respect for that mate, not going to dwell on the negatives, but we do need to get a Bodde midfield general in, otherwise we will be in trouble, De Guzman is not the answer, and I'm sure Laudrup knows that, let's hope we get it sorted soon with the Allen money, though not much time left! Norway good to have you back mate...........
Isn't Agustien a decent type of Bodde midfield general. Yesterday, he got the ball, assessed his options and then executed it. He looked very good and has a physical presence as well.
He's a good player aswan, but he's never stayed fit long enough to see whether he's up there with Joe, though I doubt it, but hell he'd never fill Bodde's shoes, that's for sure! that reminds me wonder how he's doing back at his old club?............
Stumpy, glad to add my respect to Dragon's and appreciate your response. At the end of the day we are all passionate Jacks and want the same for our team - success and lots of it!!! Let's put that first half down to a very bad day at the office and we did rally in the second half. I have every confidence that Michael Laudrup will get it right for us - I have to as I believe I was the first here to clamour for his appointment. However, he will need help, not least from each and every player that he puts out on that pitch to play for us. Things were obviously not going well evidenced by mild mannered Leon Britton angrily gesticulating at another player and then De Guzman doing the same, although he himself was culpable at one point. But we move on. ML saw what was wrong and he will be working hard to sort it out. When he does, we have enough talent in this team to do well this season but we are not good enough to carry so much as one passenger. Rodgers knew that, which is why he fostered team spirit and got the lads playing for each other. When everyone has settled in and doing the same under ML, I believe that we will go from strength to strength.
that is an understatement from what i am hearing....I hope we can get the defense sorted and quick.....I think we may have made a boo boo installing ML as manager......I hope not but i don't like the feedback so far about him...
But we haven't had a player in central midfield that could take command of the game by the scuff of the neck for as long as I can remember - they're a rare breed if you can find one. For us it's a team game and it'll continue to be. I think yesterday's first half was going be an odd one for a number of reasons ... Allen's departure is likely to depress some of the squad; Taylor and Sinclair playing for the first time with new guys and with the squad as a whole this season; sharpness and quality of Stuttgart versus who we've played so far. The real positive ... ML made adjustments at half time, team responded well!!! There are going to be down periods during matches, or opponents will start the game with a good game plan that shuts us down, if ML can see it, adjust tactically and the payers respond like this we're in good shape.
Well I'm hearing a few things too Dai, but I'm keeping my powder dry, to see if it blows over! Hell I hope this is not another Sousa situation, Jenkins gets my complete support to do whats needed....................
I hope we don't let the inmates run the asylum. Players complaining about Sousa I take as is, players now complaining about ML, seems like a bit of a pattern. I find it a bit odd that Sousa and ML, both continental players and coaches, both fully licensed as coaches and between them have more caps, cups and medals than our entire squad combined with the squads of say Fulham, Everton and Livepool, somehow dont know what they're doing is pushing credibility. If there are personality issues then our players can always go and play for the"prick" running another club. Leon thought that was a smart thing to do and came running back.
Exactly! by the way Yankee the first half against Stuttgart reminded me of the way we played under Jackett!!....
Yankee, don't take this as Gospel because it is only a RUMOUR and I stress RUMOUR; I have heard that Ash has vented some feelings but that does come from a number of sources although none of them could personally confirm them. It makes sense that defenders will complain (heard a whisper about Monk as well) because they enjoyed a lot of cover from midfield last season which they will not be getting under this new attack minded system. In other words, under Laudrup they will be asked to do the job for which they were employed without the support they have been used to. They will be more exposed and perhaps they don't fancy it. Being honest, I felt that Chico was far more enthusiastic about his work against Stuttgart but that is probably coincidence. Now don't go shooting the messenger, guys. Yankee asked a question and I shared what I have heard but, equally, it might be a load of bull***t. I sincerely hope so.
Well I know of two, who shall remain nameless, but they were not playing on Saturday, that's all I will say, wont be drawn out any further, until events either unfold, or it turns out to be a storm in a tea cup! By the way Ivor has named one................
Thanks Ivor. Interesting to hear Ash's name. Ash / Rangel / Monk are from L1 days. Taylor we got from Wrexham. Monk was kept on the bench by a 19 yer old loanee. We shouldn't be asking the midfield to do double duty and cover for inadequacies of our back four, they have enough to do otherwise. Chico seems like he is going to do the job, time for the others to step up or be upgraded. We now have money to do that.
Chico I'm really impressed with, the guy is simply class, and will prove to be one of our best signings this season!.............
you cant name names only what is being talked about and im afraid ML is not feathering well with the players. I have not seen anything special that ML will do better than BR ...on the contrary he could even take us down with his playing style. I hope not and only time will tell but when you hear that players are not happy and with that witness the way we are playing more hoof ball then i can understand why fans are concerned.....like i say time will tell and if we are at the bottom after the first ten games then you might as well accept that relegation is on the cards....
