Nope it is/was our Albert think back to the days when Maynard was in the team and how Albert played then seems like Boro are trying to find a Maynard type striker to partner him perhaps not with Maynards skill but not with his sicklist either

Might be wrong but one of the critics on here has a background in football. We have the benefit of watching him go through the motions last season. He runs up the wing but he walking back represents a problem when your team is up against it every week.

Major reason City went down was lack of shape across the centre of the pitch. full backs left exposed a flaw all season opponents seized upon where full. Adomah was a weak link and O'driscoll ( a pro manager) dropped him. Nice fella maybe but a major reason City went down.

Hardly I also have a background in football a few years back maybe but the games I saw the problem wasn't on the wings at first it was the swarms of midfielders and the wide players as well driving through the middle then breaking wide that is the hardest type of play to mark as the players are already between you and the goal and as soon as you get sucked into the middle that's when the other full backs come ranging down the flanks so unless you are effectively playing two lots of full backs, one pair in midfield, you have no chance of stopping them. The number of times I saw my full back partner give away a penalty in that situation I lost count I gave away 4 in that season myself until I stopped sliding in to try and stop them and concentrated on staying on my feet and hoping I could get goal side which I was able to do as I was lightning fast over 10 yards but slowed rapidly after that. Worst season I ever played and when you consider I scored 19 goals that year from fullback it shows how bad we were that we only won 7 games all season.
Our weakness last season was obvious we couldn't defend through the middle to save our lives yes I blamed Fontaine for many of the cockups mainly because his thought process seem so slow by the time he worked out what to do usually it was too late but I have to say in his 'defence' that there was little or no protection in front of him as there had been when Cisse played and he didn't have a first ball winning C/B alongside him as he had with Bikey so perhaps he had some reasons for his lack of performance but it didn't excuse him all the time, ffs he was the captain and was generally one of the worst players on the field with the exception of that wonderful Austrailian International hard tackling Midfielder. Sean manages to accomodate him in the team by making sure there is extra cover in the midfield by only playing one forward and using JET breaking from midfield to become the second striker TBH if we ever play with 2 strikers, unless it is against a very weak team, I can't see how we could play Killa and JET in the same team unless we play narrow and pack the midfield relying on the full backs to overlap, which is fine til we face someone with fast wide midfielders who will get behind the full backs when they attack and have a clear run on our defence.

Sorry but the star allowed opposing full backs to get forward week after week without following them. Stop the cross the stop the goal. leave 2 v 1 that's a problem. Bradley Orr would have strangled him so would Johnson (!!!! ). Mcindoe Sproule played to a shape. Adomah did as he pleased and in the end did little go forward as well. Excuses were made fir this bloke weak in weak out. Truth was he was lazy and not a team player. Described on this forum as a problem. Problem solved by dropping and selling. It's a team game unless you are exceptional and have a team built around you. Adomah isn't exceptional.

I think we are on the way back, with a different type of footballer - one that is styled on intelligence, ability with and without the ball, and that recognise the values of the modern team game.
If Adomah was that good, why didnt Fulham or someone come in for him ?

    Sir Stanley Mathews anyone ?
I'd rather have Pack, Wags, JET and Wynter thanks

Hang on I didn't claim Adomah was like Sir Stan but he was not the cause of our relegation last year in fact if you look at the opta stats we conceeded more goals through the left side than the right now one of the reasons for this is simple few clubs had good leftsided wide midfielders but many had good rt sided midfielders including us with Adomah and Anderson we had two problems when we got the ball into the opposition area we missed too many easy chances and we couldn't stop the ball going into our net.
Basically something that S O'D has corrected by bringing in Flint to give height and steel at the back and to make sure the way we play now is not to keep hitting long hopeful balls forward when all that happened was the opposition just kept pouring forward. Adomah on his day in the championship could be unplayable even with 2 men marking him but there were a couple of problems he didn't gel with anyone after Maynard left and often his crossing was awful. I still think that he should have been played in the sort of role that JET plays for us now using his pace through the middle but as I have said so often I'm not the manager and no doubt there were reasons why they didn't do that.

Hawk Sean O'driscoll totally altered the way the midfield sets up in front of the defence. Major contribution there NO Adomah.

Adomahs poorr form , lack of work rate while offering the defence nil cover was obviously a factor in taking City down.

Reason he didn't play this role you mention is he isn't good enough. Emmanuelle Thomas appears also to have passes Alberta passing is!!

    * Managing director Jon Lansdown told bcfc.co.uk: “Albert has been a joy to watch and a pleasure to work with over the past three years.

“His level of professionalism and courtesy is a credit to himself. I personally wish him all the best for the future and hope to see him go on to play in the Premier League.”

    * Head coach Sean O’Driscoll told bcfc.co.uk: “We are sorry to see Albert go, but his departure is not a surprise and we have been planning for it all summer.

“If he had stayed it would have been fantastic but we totally understood his situation and had to act in the best interests of the club.

“I cannot fault Albert’s attitude over the past couple of weeks. It would have been easy for him to be distracted by the uncertainty of his own future but he never let that affect him in training or the two friendly games he played. We wish him all the best.”

Albert leaves us on good terms, the bosses have spoken, nice one mate.......<ok>

Albert has handled himself well during a difficult few weeks (look at Suarez etc for examples of how not to act).

Feedback on his time with us was that he was friendly towards fans etc

    Good luck Albert!!

How about a papermache statue of Adomah hands on hips stood on the halfway line while that bouncy thing flew bounced some more City's box!
