Every player has his price, and we got acceptable money for all those players, i believe that the club could have quite easily of said no as other clubs have and as we have done in the past. You can'y say that all the players got what they wanted in the end as every single modern day player will change clubs at some point in their career. Berahinio is the best examle of this, yes i agree he will move on this season but not to where he wanted to go last year so no he didn't get what he wanted. WBA have maybe missed out on massive money for him but they have done it on their terms not the players.
The players all still got a move while they were under contract. So they very much did get what they wanted. If a club had all the power and could stop a player leaving, then the player wouldn't leave until their contract ends.

Absolutley I agree 100% but being a job they should be subject to the same employment laws as everyone else. Making acceptions can set a bad precident which although it sounds fanciful can affect every employee in the country, the less fortunate as well as they hugely privileged.
Afterall the NHL had two players strikes mainly over the practice of treating them like a commodity of the club rather than a human employee [I know it was north America and a different circumstance but the principal to me seems to be the same].
Your not getting it, and the fact all of your posts come across as a matter of fact and you're ignoring the Berhinio example of a player not getting what he wanted then i give up trying to explain a different point of view.
One more try, Berahinio tried to force a move to spurs WBA said no and he didn't move, he is still a west brom player although i agree he will more than likely move on, however this will be dictated by the club and will more than likely not be to the club that he wanted to move to.
A real example of player power is when they see out there contract and get a free transfer, that way they can demand a high wage and signing on fee and the former club gets nothing.

. I just feel it is different from the average work.A player can be kept at a club, Under contract, But the work ethic you would get from said player will dip, And not to mention the morale across the camp. Kids these days.
Well obviously you can't keep them forever. As someone else has pointed out, delaying a players departure is the same as stopping them from leaving. A club can't keep a player forever, only until the end of their contract. Unless the agent finds a way to void the contract then the player is powerless to force through a move if the club stands firm.
He will still get his move though. So gets what he wants.
It's almost if I have a different opinion then you. I don't think delaying a player leaving is stopping them and you do. So that's leave it here before clogging up the thread even more.
So much respect for WBA for how they stood firm. But you can see the damage it did, so in hindsight if that were my Saints, I'd snatch the big fee and feel aggrieved.
Fair enough but i doubt whether he would try to force a move to someone like Stoke as he did to Spurs last season. Seems to me that WBA are dictating his move rather than him and thats due to him throwing his toys out of the pram last season.
But as with all "selling clubs" making a player see out their contract is not the name of the game. I can't imagine the club wanting any of our players (at least those with sell-on potential) to see out their contracts as it does not fit with our business model.
What we need to strike a balance on is getting the most out of a player on the pitch and ensuring that those players are not running down their contract to anything less than 2 years so that we are able to see a decent financial return when we do agree to sell.
Instead of the 'Saint' threads for incomings maybe we should have 'Sinner' ones for those leaving. There'd be enough each summer! 
I said nothing about the clubs policy. It is pretty obvious we buy promising players then sell them on. As I have said on another thread, they wouldn't come here if we didn't. The only way we stop players wanting to go each season is buy journey men who are at the end of their career and done it all.
I am on about players having enough power to get what they want. Which we differ on, so just put it down to a difference of opinion.

I accept that on here things arn't always what they seem and i may of got caught up on the way you worded it more than anything else.
The other problem with forcing players to stay is that the club becomes less attractive to good players looking to use us as a gateway to the PL. We'd find it much harder to buy the likes of Mane & Wanayama to start with if we gained a reputation for holding players against their will.

Thats because although he was tall, well built, fit and our mates were really impressed, we kind of knew it wasnt a long term thing and were rather relieved that he effectively dumped us for some Chinese tart before we had to do it because of him showing his age. Plus he didnt ever say he loved us whilst secretly seeing someone else.
Its always easy to be generous to the ones who pass like ships in the night, rather than those permanently moored in our harbours.
