I always take an interest in who you are signing, so i can pick who to worry about in our games against each other.

Last season when you bought Gyan, i was ****ting myself at the thought of Gyan and Bent upfront and having to try and score against Mensah and Onuoha. However, it didn't really turn out the way i thought it would ;)

Onto next season. You've today signed the first player that will make me a little more nervous about the derby day. Larsson and Gardner don't really bother me, but Wickham to me is either going to be a big flop or will be banging them in for you lot.

Now to the main point -

Would you settle for an upfront pair of Gyan and Wickham? Or would you prefer to have a better striker upfront with Gyan and have Wickham as a 3rd choice??

Cheers <cheers>

I'd like Gyan and Pav up front , with Wickham and Dong on the bench. Frazier back second half of the season , and N'gog in Liverpool reserves.

I doubt Pav will drop below the the top 5/6 teams mate. He was Spurs 2nd top scorer last season, i doubt they'd let him go, and if they did he'd cost a lot, and then it would come down to whether Pav wanted to drop to a mid table team and if you're prepared to pay his desired wages, which would probably be 60/70k+

Its not a case of 'better' striker but one who is ready now to partner Gyan.

I think Wickham will be eased into his EPL career from the bench and wont be ready to compete for a starting berth until next season.

Mind you, if he comes on and scores 2 or 3 in the first 2 games, he wont fancy being on the bench long either.

Said it a few times now, its not neccessarily going to be a Pav or Crouch standard. I'd be happy with Welbeck partnering Gyan as they hit it off big time. Passing and movement were exceptional and thats what we want to see.

Yeah , you're right. But I can dream , can't I ?

Cheers Tash,
I agree with cest and think he'll be eased in.

Gyan was given time to find his boots and I can see us buying another attacking midfield/striker to be the main partner for Gyan. It could very well be Pavyulchenko

Gyan will be an even bigger threat this season after a full year under his belt.

I fancy him for 15 to 20 goals this season and a partner with similar stats will be bought in. Pav is a 15 to 20 goals man and Welbeck on loan will complete the quartet. Gyan, Pav, Wickham and Welbeck looks pretty meaty to me with Won as a 5th striker/winger (he has played this role many times apparently).

Thankfully, the N'Gog to villa story may save me a heart attack now and we ditch the link altogether.

£13m is not a bad deal either. He is a quality player in my opinion and leads the line well.

Pavlyuchenko stats in the EPL for Spurs:

73 / 20 goals - EPL (average 3.65)
18 / 14 goals - Domestic Cups (average 1.28)
8 / 4 goals - Europe (average 2)

99 / 38 goals - Total (average 2.60)

Thats worth £13m of anyones money in my books.

hopefully we will have Gyan/Welbeck/Campbell/Wickham/Ji as our group of strikers for the new season. Welbeck coming in on a season long loan saving our money for a top draw (marquee signing) left winger
