Good players playing well - tactics is only a small part of it.

Spurlock, i wasn't having a go at AVB, I put happy in brackets as I don't believe he is happy, but he needs to strong about the stance on players if thats the case as I remember someone on here said we need a strong manager, I think it was spurf.

There is absolutely no reason why the players we have can't play the way AVB wants. Same with Chelsea. I think we'd agree that man for man our team is better than Swansea. At the moment Swansea are better because a lot of the players have been playing the system for years.
Our players will get it. Early results were always gonna be a mixed bag, there is only so much AVB can teach them in training. Games are where the players will learn most

Exactly. If players have no confidence in their manager, his tactics, or what they're being asked to do out there, it's inevitable that it will show up in their performance. No matter how good a player they may be.

Did I say that Boss! But yes we do, we have to back him whatever we think because to undermine him will only reflect badly on Spurs. We all want the team to play well and get good results so we have to give the man a chance.

Spurs very badly need a win to restore confidence and I see no reason why with a 2 week break to integrate the new players we shouldn't be able to produce a much better performance at Reading. An away game might be a blessing atm.

You did! also after the game you mentioned the over reaction and now i've calmed down, you can see thats how the majority of us reacted..

There seems to be this under lying tension about whats happening at our club, from the position we was in, to redknapp going and avb arriving.

Avb clearly has a task in winning over the fans, and if you watch the post match interview you can see he's trying his best to avoid giving off frustration at the Boos, and the fans reaction, yet you can tell its getting to him, already.

A win away to reading, good performance and it turns round for avb, confidence grows and things look rosy...yet if we lose or draw against Reading then already it creates even more pressure, 4 games into the job, even christian gross got more time before the fans turned on him!

You're right in this doesn't reflect well on the club, from the outset other fans will be laughing, thinking we're already turning on the manager and it makes it even more sad as we have lost some great players, while also having a lot of talent still at the club.

From my own view I hate disliking the manager of the club, it never sits well, as you feel detached from the club you follow, its not enjoyable yet when you're frustrated with the club, the team, performance, result, then you feel the need to air your frustrations.

So I hope avb can prove me to be an idiot for doubting him, and also win over the fans like me that just don't like the guy as I don't believe any one actually wants to turn on the manager of the club.

AVB needs a bit of luck to kick start his career at Spurs, the pressures are huge and you're right he's feeling them already.

How he behaves behind close doors with the players during the next couple of weeks will be very important. The break is a chance for the team to settle, let's hope he makes the most of it.

Apart from whats already been written about tactics etc, something I noticed from the Norwich game & the West Brom game was the lack of attacking intent from Walker & Benny.
I know Benny scored, but what is also being missed is their overlapping that we had last season.
They seem to be sitting back waiting,is this their new role or this perceived lack of confidence.

Well I'm unhappy with AVB so far, I'm fearing another 'Hoddle bout of management' with stubborness and misplaced arrogance to the fore.

What's going on with Dawson, not even on the bench, why is Bale playing with lead in his boots. DEfoe playing up front on his own, ok I'll blame Levy for that one.

Ah well, bring on Reading. COYS, etc.:azn:
