Well after sitting in a dark room thinking about what i witnessed yesterday I feel the need to give an assesment on our performance.

First of all our defence at set plays is awful and has not progressed since last season!

After Wigan scored an equaliser we also seemed to go into a time warp and ended up back in the Peter Crouch era with Huddlestone and Dawson lumping it up field in the hope someone would get on the end of it!

Naugton is an obvious liability who cannot tackle or cross or pass anything over 5 yards!

Kyle Walker actually looked pretty good going forward again today and should be looked at to be put in a RW position while Lennon returns to fitness.

All in all not alot to shout about and once again we are left relying on other teams helping us out to get top 4!

I agree re walker.
I thought he was one of our better players yesterday, his crossing let him down but at least he got into those positions to start with- no one else did.

Our worst players were Naughton, Parker and a strangely subdued Bale.

Huddlestone didn't do much wrong and was more effective once Parker was subbed.

Not a lot for us to cheer about in the away end though!
 
I cannot hold Huddlestone acountable for his play during the game at all because what he was told to do, he did well but i just think that our play suffered from the long balls that were been played.

Previous to the equaliser from Wigan we were creating some great chances and the back 4 of Wigan didn't know what to do with the pace and nice 1-2 touches but as soon as we concided we just seemed to lump it up from the back as though we were not confident that the midfield would be able to make any chances!

Huddlestone seemed to play as more of a 5th defender rather than anything else
 
A lot of Huddlestone's more dangerous passes were into space out wide against City. The were very narrow and we took advantage of that.
Martinez prevented Wigan being vulnerable to the same thing yesterday by switching to a 4-4-2 and we helped him out by having absolutely no width for most of the game.
 
Totally agree that we played way to narrow and needed to have more width just like the first 10-15 minutes of the game. Bale needs to be utilised as a winger when we do not have Lennon or any real driving force in midfield which was the case when Dembele went off.
