As a pure ( for the mo ) self serving thread I'd like to start a good news thread and I'll go first.
On Thursday my missus finished going to Clatterbridge cancer hospital in Liverpool for chemo and radiotherapy. After 28 daily visits travelling from over the water ( Neston) to Pembroke place she's finally finished treatment , hopefully forever.
Don't want loads of best wishes just post yer good news for others to share.
Ps

That includes any windfalls<laugh>

House went on the market Thursday at 10pm. First offer, 100% of asking price, paying cash, came in by noon on Friday. House selling for almost double we bought it for 15 years ago. <ok>

Waiting a few days to respond to see if any bids come in over asking. We're relieved to be able to sell quickly though... Housing market here has been red hot for two years but is beginning to crack... Didn't want to be lumped with two mortgages for much longer! <ok>

I've bid asking price for 4 houses this year alone within a week of coming online. Always beaten. Constantly having to raise price of search too, completely ****ed market

We fluked into where we live now. Was looking at an acre lot in the country. Decided to look at previous homes that had sold in the area. Noticed the house across the street sold a few years ago and had a comment on it "will sell adjoining acreage with house if buyer is interested". Investigated and found that the buyer never took up the option... so we contacted the seller and he sold us the land absolutely dirt cheap (not much more than the 1 acre lot we were looking at).

If our land had been publicly listed it would have gone for ten times the price he sold it to us for.

We've been incredibly lucky so far this whole housing cycle.

Really good news about Mrs Zorba, may she continue to thrive and get better every day.

My good news - Granddaughter starting school in September just got into her first choice school, well her parents first choice of school. How times change. Children used to go to the nearest primary school, now you are given a list and have to choose.

Thanks

Just found a box turtle laying eggs out behind the house in the woods. That was pretty cool. Didn't want to disrupt it (dogs barking at it being bitches that they are) so took dogs in and I'm going to go back to see if it's still there and put a wooden crate over the nest to protect it in a few hours.

No idea how long it takes turtles to lay eggs

Went out on MTB for first time in 5 1/2 weeks due to mishap with bike in which I gave myself a 6 inch hematoma in calf muscle.Managed 12 miles with only one very brief twinge in muscle..... I'm back biking... woohoo.
Fit in biking before missus is awake in the morning normally about 8am.

Nice weather for early morning bike rides but at 8am I'm just dreaming about them.
