Just because they smoked dope first doesn't mean it led them to it. I know people who have never smoked as much as a cigerette who take coke at the weekends.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Nutt So basically any advisers that the government agree with is only because they agree with policies and has nothing to do with them actually having any real scientific meaning.
Did none of you start with glue/solvents, or even cigs? Whatever narcotic is the first one taken, it doesn't mean that it will lead to others, that makes as much sense as saying that football leads to violence, or a bag of chips leads to obesity. Make it leagal and take it out of the hands of those who don't care about anything other than themselves. It would create around 100,000 new jobs, all of whom would be taxpayers and the government would also be able to raise a few billion per year in the same way they do with cigs and booze, afterall it takes very little outlay to grow the plants, so virtually every penny it would cost if sold legally would be revenue for the state.
You missed out the fact it would cut a lot of criminal profits and result in a much safer form of cannabis and speaking from experience in working in greenhouses it would not only make them much more profitable but also much more self efficient. For instance all the plants you see around your towns in the summer (hanging baskets, troughs and flower displays) could be funded entirely from those greenhouses providing valuable economic benefits to local councils, especially in an age where council owned greenhouses are being closed down and demolished with people losing jobs.
No one said it can't melt heads. It's a minority though. Should crossing the road be illegal because some people get knocked down?
More trying to convince anyone reading than any single person, cannabis use is demonised by far too many people that don't know the medical and social benefits it has. A lot of people consider cannabis a contributor to mental afflictions such as Schizophrenia and Stress but that's one very small side to the story because if you ask a lot of cannabis users one of the reasons they use the drug is for stress relief and to generally make them happier people.
Yep, legalising cannabis would pretty much save the world, imagine what all those at the top of the dealing tree do with all that money they make, does it just go on classy whores and fine wine, or does it go into people and weapon smuggling? Some growers will spray any old **** on their plants if they think it will increase yeild and I've no doubt most of those chemicals are illegal to use on anything that humans will consume/smoke due to being highly toxic, the plant needs to be lagalised and regulated as much for the safety of the millions of users as for any other reason. @MD20/20 I use primarily because it's the only painkiller I've tried that does the job without being highly addictive and incredibly dangerous.
I take it Amsterdam is the safest place in the world then? Or is it just like any other big city with gangsters, poverty, murders etc.
Amsterdam has a budding tourist industry due to it, if more countries in the world legalized it it would remove any profits for criminal elements because it wouldn't have the same exploitable loophole (being one of few countries that allow it) Criminal elements thrive in holland due to its loose policy regarding cannabis usage and combined with it being one of the main tourist attractions makes it quite a viable business to get into if you any type of criminal.
Since Lisbon changed the status of cannabis and other drugs from being totally illegal like they are over here to the current policy of personal usage being tolerated, they've seen a massive drop in all personal crimes, burglary and violence, but I guess facts like that don't tie in with the anti-drug brigade, so they never get the publicity they deserve. As for Holland, their fairly new far-right govt. is changing everything, within a year any tourist caught taking any drugs will be severely reprimanded and cannabis itself will be outlawed.
I've had the pleasure of smoking sandblasted weed on many occasions, its disgusting and if its not slightly sandblasted its actually got formed glass particles (I've cut my finger on what i assume was a shard of glass in my weed before needless to say i took it back and told the boy I wasn't smoking it. I smoke it for a number of reasons, insomia, stress and it helpa my eating drive (without it I'd be a skinny ****)
But really real is talking about the merits of it and how it can help cities and such. Amsterdam is as grimey and as bad as any other European city. I don't think because dope is legal there that it's some loving community were no troubles exist.
