To be fair I didn't think he was that great the first game but he had only just arrived so you had to give him the benefit of the doubt. At times I thought he looked scared stiff and did the safe thing of putting it out over and over. Passing was not great and thought he looked lost for their Goal on Saturday when I saw it on the box. He certainly isn't Boetang is he.
Although at Palace he seems to be further up the pecking order than Boateng.....maybe he finds it harder settling away from his home patch.
Well i don't think Croll will play again if other's are fit.. Cant see how he is a Premier league club Player? Looked out of place against Dagenham? No ball control and just hoofing the ball.. well most of the team done that.. Thought i was at Plough Lane .. My summary; Rubbish.. On the form of the last 3/4 matches we will not be going up.. we went into freefall this time last year.. Hope fully the players return after the break or we will continue down wards i am afraid..
Rumour going the rounds on the other Argyle sites based on comments in the Nottingham Post.....that we have offered Alan Smith a deal. Alan Smith 35 yr old mid-fielder presently at Notts County......famed for his years at Leeds United and Man U is an experienced International. He would bring a steadying influence on our mid-field.....I don't know if his contract ends in January or not.....but could be a good signing for the rest of the season. Played well for Notts C against us... controlling the mid-field and keeping Hiram Boateng quiet.
He's a player who was thought to be destined for great things as a striker I think that never fully materialized. Saw him recently, must have been on the box in the FA Cup I suppose. Still putting himself about in centre midfield. Been there and done it, not a bad player for a promotion run-in. Correction: not in the FA Cup was it, our game at Notts County was televised back in October and Smith played 90 minutes.
Not sure about this one if honest. We do need a bit of steel in the middle and to be sure he would provide that as he isn't exactly a mister nice guy. We did well against him when it was televised so he isn't one to stand out in this league despite his credentials. He isn't as mobile as he used to be but he can still see and make a pass so that would be an improvement on some things I've seen at Argyle so far. He has played at a much higher level than he's at now and with better players to feed off him than Notts can provide he could do ok.
Still a lot of interest online regarding Alan Smith being a January target for Derek Adams.....so he can strengthen his mid-field with a very experienced player who could benefit from playing with such players as Graham Carey.
Listened to match report on GoS tonight.......Derek Adams was asked about the strong rumour regarding Alan Smith being offered a player/coach role at PAFC..........Adams reply was....."no comment".....so something surely going on there then ?.
Adams hates to talk about anything other than that which is already out there and known by the masses. Fair enough as far as I'm concerned and rumours should be left exactly where they belong, with supporters who love to speculate. They pay their money so them doing it is fair enough also. Adams has made it clear where he stands many times previously.
I see the Bolton Manager is fearing there might be a sale of players to ease/stave off administration for the club. Threlkeld springs to mind with this and I wonder if there is a chance we might get a permanent signing here. We had a firesale when we went into meltdown and nobody felt sorry for us as in other clubs and Managers. They just stripped out what they could off the carcus for as little as they could get away with. We let some talent go for nothing much then even just to get them off the wage bill. Could we get a freebie or cheap signing I wonder? If we can then why not I say, the vultures would do it to us in a flash if they could and did.
Although no news yet from PAFC.....but it seems that Oscar Threlkeld will be returning for the rest of the season.....so says Errington. Bolton are £173 million in the red......and bottom of the Championship.....and will be selling players to keep the wolf from the door this month.....probably only too glad to ship Threlkeld out again.
One down two to go.....Oscar Threlkeld has signed a contract that will take him up to Apr 9th....including the AFC Wimbledon game......why not till the end of the season in May ?
Talk of Alan Smith being in Plymouth to have transfer talks with Derek Adams today......reports of Notts C allowing him to leave ?
Tanner's loan has been extended as well (same date I think)- the end dates are probably due to the complicated loan rules and how many a club can have at any one time/throughout the season. Not sure about the exact detail but it is something like a max of 4 under 23s and 4 over 23s can be signed on a 'long term' loan. A long term long is (I think) 93 days which would be about right given the reported date. Not sure whether they could then be extended again at the end of the season through the 'emergency loan' system. As I say, am no longer an expert but did read up on it a few months ago when applying for a job!
yes pictures of the back of 3 people in royal william yard that are apparently DA, Alan Smith and his agent doing the rounds on Twitter.
You beat me to it Lindy....Craig Tanner has extended his loan to the end of the season....so a different length compared with Threlkeld.....but I'm not complaining. I saw the picture as well Lindy....could be anyone....if that is Adams in the middle he seems to have quite a bald patch developing there. PS....just looked at it again...that is his agent I would think.....Adams on the left.
I was reading around the various sites and the probable deliberate doom in places about the loanees not being signed a few minutes after the window opened. I genuinely think there are some out there who would relish Argyle going tits up again. Without that possibility I think their lives aren't complete. Just Boetang to go then and I do believe he will come back. We can do without him but I would far prefer not to. The Alan Smith thing doesn't fill me with excitement one way or the other. Reading all the bits on it I think he was trying to get a better deal from Notts and it hasn't been forthcoming. Bluff called he is now in Plymouth talking to us. Not sure he wanted to come which puts me off a bit.
Hiram Boateng has returned to C Palace.......Alan Pardew has put him in the first team training squad. Derek Adams says that he hasn't given up on getting Boateng back and will keep an eye on what happens at Palace. Maybe Pardew wants to assess his development since being at PAFC........he surely isn't on the fringes of the first team.....he is 4th or 5th in the pecking order in their first team squad.....so hopefully later in January he might return......lets keep our fingers crossed. Disappointing to lose such a successful loanee....but two out of three retained of those that Adams wanted to hold on to.
A bit of a disappointment but I guess the last 4 results (albeit against lesser opposition) shows we can live without him and a return hasnt been ruled out. I see Lee Cox is returning to HP- not sure whether Stevenage don't want to keep him or we want him back; DA clearly not a fan but might need him for cover especially as the 'nailed on' Alan Smith signing appears to be less sure now! Understand also that approaches have been made for some of our players but they have so far been declined...
