I think if we were to get promoted and wanted to keep either of them, the only thing that would prevent that would be a well established premier league club offering them better deals. As far as I'm aware, the premier league is big over in Africa, and most players away from the big European leagues all dream of playing in the premiership, I don't think Al-Ahly would be able to persuade them away from their chance on the big stage, specially considering they've both pretty much achieved all that is possible back home in Egypt. Something I was thinking, from what I can see Fathi is one of their big, big stars, held in higher esteem than Gedo. Wonder how he feels about going from being a superstar to playing with a bunch of kids on a snowy field whilst Gedo's rocking it out in a nice floodlit stadium, must be hard for him to swallow
To be honest I think he'll just have been happy to get out on the pitch and play. From what I've seen & heard of the two lads from Al Alhy they appear to be very grounded individuals in a humble kind of way, which is absolutely fantastic to see, especially when we were so close to signing the direct opposite in DJ Campbell! They come across as humble, yet have fantastic reputations as footballers, and they WANT to play for, and be successful at, Hull City AFC. What more could we ask or hope for?
Hopefully Fathi will understand that he isn't as fit as he should be and he needs game time regardless of how massive his metaphorical knob is in Egyptian football circles. That 90 minutes will have been good for him I'm sure.
Speaking of which, I can't believe the HDM or someone hasn't come up with some glorious headline about Fathi being unfit. It's there for the taking, just needs rearranging into some witty jibe. A journalist's open goal if you will. At present they're all doing their best Hull City impression with said open goal.
Won 2-0. Cairney and Margets got the goals in the first half. Fathi needed game time and he got it. 90 mins worth in snowy Rotherham. Along with Rosie and Stewart. I think that Gedo will start and if we can get 60-70mins out of him even better. City need to be out of blocks from the off and with Brady and Elmo banging in those crosses. Gedo on the end of them and we could be 3-0 up in no time. The sooner that the Charlton game can be put to bed SB can then ring the changes from the bench with Blackburn on tuesday in mind. Charlton always look wide open when i see them and maybe this is the day when OJ and Nick P. also get onto the score sheet.
