Last season was relegated Pompey players this season so far a league 1 bench warmer and a relegated Wolves player Some things never change
Morning all Been away for a bit so I haven't kept pace with all of the rumours, but I can't see us signing Sharp tbf. I'll await judgement on the Smith signing until we've seen him play, but McD has a good record of uncovering good players in the lower leagues, so fingers crossed. As for all the Warnock / GFH stuff, I'm inclined to just ignore it, as it'll never give the full picture. There probably is truth in what Warnock says about the owners and financial backing, but I'm also fairly sure he will be exaggerating. He has a habit of buck passing, and trying to make it out like he is superman, just without the right conditions around him to fly. He's left, he should move on and stop talking to the press about Leeds. Doubtless he is just trying to improve his reputation which took a battering at Leeds, as if he truly wants to be considered for a Director of Football role, his dealings in the transfer market under us would make me seem like a more attractive choice than him at the minute!!
On NW, given Bates made plenty of less than totally complimentary statements about him, after he left, I think he has a perfect right to put his side of things. I was not one of those delighted when NW arrived, and his comments now do not help us much, but confirm what I have believed for a long time, that almost no manager would have much chance getting us to the Prem under a Bates regime that NW seems to allege really could not afford to spend. The same woudl have applied if BM had been the manager, I believe. Question is, will there be any tangible difference between the Bates regime and GFH's? So far its hard to tell, the only positive is we havn't sold anyone good, yet - though these days its a short list of players for who I would be gutted if they were sold.
Morning! I don't really care about all that lot now its in the past for me. We need to look forward and hope we bring a few decent players in and integrate our youth more. MOT
Morning all Just remember what RCDM said, the window isnt actually open yet. Patience people please! That being said, I still dont think we will be big spenders, although I would be happy if McD got a few quid to spend as I believe it will be spent wisely. As for the Smith signing, we have let Somma go (I rated him, but he was a drain on resource and not much more) and habib has gone back to wherever he came from so we are in the black financially there so I see that as a good move even if Smith has limited appearances. As for Bates and Warnock. Serial bullshitters and I couldnt give a **** about either of them.
Just seen an interview NW has given on News Now, where he blames Snodds for us not walking promotion. He said we got £3m for him and never used it and didn't replace him like for like. He said Bates had used cash earlier to refurb the ground, and he likes Bates and mates. He said the new owners now need to spend on the team and not the infrastructure as ER is now in the top 6 grounds in the country ....... he's a fooking numpty YNBK is correct about Hooper and Sharpe, and also Cox, Lambert and Koren.
Morning all Colin should shut up now, doess anybody actually.care about what he says. As for Sharp I kind of figured he wasnt coming when we signed Smith. Signing Paynter over Hooper was criminal.
It will definitely be another freebie, not really allowed to announce anything else till the transfer window opens I believe
Hardly anyones announcing anyone exciting though to be fair. Lets wait and see, I can't see us spending massive amounts, but I trust McDermott and GFH to put a reasonable squad together a hell of a lot more than I do Warnock and Bates.
.... trust McDermott and GFH to put a reasonable squad together a hell of a lot more than I do Warnock and Bates. Got it in one RCDM.
I think GFH and McD should manage to keep you boys in the championship this season. dont think youll be relegated.your biggest fear is financial is there enough dosh being generated to keep you afloat ? But at least if it does all go tits up im sure Kenneth Bates will step in and save you again
Cheers Mighty for letting us know. Presumably 'Wall fans will be helping to remind us when they come to the hallowed ground that is ER just how much we KB & were so lucky to have him albeit for such a brief period.
Whats the difference between this summer and last (Excluding weather) No difference except LUST are quiet, and have no revelations and major stories that they're keeping quiet about ..... until they can tell us the truth ....
At Leeds United? We don't need to read bates' drivel and pay attentionto anything Colin W. has to say. Two major improvements right there! Added bonus - a youngish manager, who has been there and done what we are looking to do. A man with intelligence and know-how. Things are looking up!
