Very pleased with Tate and Jerome given how little time Colin had to work with. Some defensive cover and pace on the wings, just what we need.
I think in fairness he had these two lined up just in case, either way let's hope they make a difference.
Leeds have completed the signing of West Brom midfielder Jerome Thomas on loan until January. The 29-year-old will go straight into United's squad for the clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday. United manager Neil Warnock revealed that Thomas was a long-time target of his. "He's a player I've tried to sign five times so it's about time I finally got him," Warnock told the club's official website. "He is just what I'm looking for and I want him to come here and enjoy himself. "He's direct and positive when he's attacking and fits the bill as just what we want." Former Arsenal trainee Thomas has made over 200 career appearances for QPR, Portsmouth, Charlton and West Brom. I could be wrong but I think I remember Warnock saying he had tried to sign Varney on 5 occassions?
He also said he'd tried to sign Austin countless times before. It could go either way. Try look on the bright side.
He plays in the centre. According to the website he's a central midfielder, not a winger. But that won't stop Colin, the magic man!
Jerome Thomas is a right signing. Well happy with that. Notice now the wums aren't chipping in now that positive news is filtering out of the Elland Road empire!! Marching on (progressively happier) Together
News is good from ER for once. Maybe they will be clever and offer half season tickets from Xmas too. Big Xmas pressies moneyspinner
Bit harsh on Varney - he's very good with his elbows Re Jerome Thomas - He was voted on the Charlton forum (Charlton Life) as their worst ever midfielder just ahead of Amdye Faye and Neil Redfern
