I remember us finishing runners up a few times in the 90's.

Bit of a stupid question, really. A 'good cup run' offers nothing unless you win it. All it gives you is more wear and tear on the players and a higher risk of injury.

Europe, on the other hand, raises the teams profile and reputation, which helps it to attract better players. What would top players prefer? A 'good run' in some crappy UK-based cup competition, or a run playing European football against some of the best teams in Europe?

Europe would be nice as well, but we'll need a bigger squad for that

    It was you!

Saying that, I was in the same pub, at the same table with the same friends to watch both Finals so it could have been my fault.

The 'FA cup provides us a way into Europe' kind of kills the argument <laugh>. So taking that out of consideration..

..I'd much rather get into Europe than have a decent cup run - Birmingham won the Carling Cup but wont be able to attract players of a higher calibre because of this - the best players want to play competitive european football, and qualifying for the Europa League will help us attract bigger names <ok>.
