Didn't we look the mutts nuts on the telly back then? I used to love seeing the R's on TV especially when Brian Moore was commentating. That and all those 70's football cards are my first memories of Rangers. You see some of the old cards now and it takes me right back to flipping doubles, swapsies and penny up the wall at school.

Jumpers for goalposts, rush goalie, beans for tea isn't it? Marvelous!

I used to love the opening titles to The Big Match on a Sunday afternoon. The LWT bumper and then the theme tune to the show.

Rob Hulse. Not sure what happened there. Right manager right set-up proven track record in the Championship. Each time I saw him I thought he just needs to break his duck and he'll be fine. He did. And he never was. Homesick? Wife unhappy in London? Thankfully Warnock gave up on him.

Yes.

I thought the same when we bought Sheron too. Both proven goalscorers at that level. Yet both were utter failures.

Prime examples of the old 'good-until-wearing-hoops-then-inexplicably-turn-to-****e' curse.

At last the gremlins have retreated. My memory of his unforgettable stay was the text book centre forward's goal from a cross by Routledge at Scunthorpe early in the game to put us 1 up - then they cranked into life and put 4 past us which I think was their biggest win of the season. I honestly don't remember him touching the ball again. Ever.

Only person collecting winnings after the game
Anyone else won money on his prowess?

However, I lost money every week on Paul Parker to score 1st at 33/1 but he was still the best defender/tackler/marker I’ve seen so I let him off.

Loved Wicksy, a proper centre-half.

Pretty much everyone who played for Venables said he was the best coach they'd known.

I remember an away win at Chelsea, must have been late 70s when both teams were in division 2, and at the end Wicksy gave a big two fingers to the Chelsea directors box. His father in law was Brian Mears, Chelsea chairman and grandson of the scum founder.

Also one of my favourites a great pairing with Bobby Hazel in the heart of defence.

Those were the days. I can still remember the BBC presenter on Final Score reading the videprinter results after a 2-0 away win in Whatever Division 3 was called in those days when our scorers were Doudou and ****tu. Somehow he managed to keep a straight face.
