I can't say agree on that. He has shown he is anything but spineless

Finally, yes, he's shown a bit of backbone and stood up to the Tories. He's been leader of the Labour party since 2015!! It's only in the last 7 weeks he's started standing up against the Tories and for himself. He's been a political doormat for the last 2 years, why has it taken this long for him to start performing as a real leader?

Theresa May's resignation speech

He was waiting for people to start actually listening while everyone was congratulating themselves on being able to spout garbage like "yeah but he's not prime ministerial, the country needs a respected leader like May"

Utter rot.

Just jumping on the bandwagon.

Corbyn just threw about promises hed never keep in a million years and just looked better than her. Add in a few good quotes written for him for the youth and away you go.

May lacks leadership quality and can't react spontaneously as is required of a leader. She is a decent cabinet minister at best.

Corbyn, McDonnell, Abbott, etc are popular at the moment because they promised the world and did not have to deliver it. If they ran the country the IMF would be in charge within 4 years. Their policies are the same as someone on £30k a year with a £20k credit card debt solving the problem by getting another credit card.

Unfortunately at the moment there is no one to occupy the centre of British politics which is the area most people identify with.

Mito did it for me.

Corbyn might come from the other end of the spectrum to the orange one but same mo...spouts populist nonsense, grand promises no leader will or can ever keep, has a rabid pack of supporters that do the dirty work for him that he never quite criticises.

And is being put up on a pedestal as some kind of saviour due to desperation by people willing to ignore so many many flaws just because he isnt blue. Under that scruffy uncle facade is the same egotist...

You could have summed that all up by saying "Corbyn is a politician"

Well said.

Up against cameron he looked a loon. The rampant capitalists panicked and nearly crashed the system friday morning after election....

Theres nothing real in him but hes gotten out and at least shown hes not a total incompetant and now is firmly on her throat. He is saying wildly stupid things still like getting a million to march to demand she go and that queens soeech ****e.

The issue for me is if you ignore the 42% who solidly voted tory and the fact may missed by 8 whole seats? The majority? Or the fact more tories than labour did well in scotland... well if may goes and dup are unworkable who kbows what will hapoen next.

The realiryvis dup are bad but are they not bribable, would snp/labour be even worse?

How can labour turn 40% and260 odd into 300+ and then survive long enough to actually make it stick.

The politician in me thinks let may on at brexit and when the 50billion price cones home blame the tories... anyone wirh hand on tiller in next 2 years will be tarnished by this nightmare and comibg recession no?

True lol...

But he isnt even a good one..he just sounds better because we are all sick of the status quo.

I want a Labour leader who will actually deliver.

I mean i found it deeply cynical that an hour after may visited the fire and didnt talk to locals he majestically appears and is hugging people.

Apparently hes got humanity now and she hasnt.

Or he just pulled off a deeply deeply cynical stroke... i cant tell but there was enough time for him to know what woyld make him look better.

Which is it?

I cant tell.... which is the issue. May is may... poor but you imaging puppet strings conteolling her while corbyn seems a litle tyrant in his party so is he real when he does these things or not.

Brexit may not even happen. T May has weakened her position so much that she has lost control of her own party...the same internal split over europe will come to the fore again as they scramble to assert influence on her. She has in an attempt to get validation for doing it (because she was a remainer and wanted to point to a bigger majority as justification for doing something she doesnt believe in) undermined the whole thing.

She wont be able to appease the DUP nut jobs enough so wil be gone soon.

Which is great...until i remember that just as big a nut job will either try to form a govt with just as bad a mandate or worse...another election gets him a majority and he unleashes the full potential of his fringe nonsense...

He has got a better PR team than a year ago.

As you say...easy to turn up and hug someone if you arent a Tory (there was a method behind Cameron's hug a hoody madness...he was trying to shake that gut reaction people have...failed...because well he was still a tory lol)

Tbf...im doing a disservice to Corbyn.hes maintained the same nutjob fantasy policies for 30 years. The danger is a year ago even he thought it was all a joke to enjoy....now he is starting to think he might actually get to enact his nonsense.

The tories next person in leadership is the question.

Do yoy really think an extra say 4/5bil a year in budget and assurance that sin fein get no ballots on anything for a while wont buy off those 10 votes? As in what do you think the dup will do if thry are bribed enough from your perspective?

All may needs is all 17 votes of ni parties to go away. Thats 650-17/2 = 317 majority

Now thats all but unworkable really but she can get dup support for a few things on active votes.

The big issue for me is the 8 scottish tories being remainers.

Then if one side is appeased the other ilside agitates.

Yup but i think on Europe...the tory remainers had accepted defeat a year ago...now they will see an opportunity to reassert themselves...

Its the one thing that breaks a usually tight party discipline for the Tories. And there is still a good bit of bitterness over the leadership game that played out.

If I was a Tory Id even be tempted to let Corbyn deal with it... he is a leaver, he will be incompetent enough in general that you'd get back in 5 years with an actual majority. I mean he has removed almost all the competent players from his shadow cabinet...

It will be as big a circus as Mays ...it would then give the Tories time to sort out the leadership and come back saying "we told you so" as a campaign message.

Christ both parties look unfit to govern no matter what you think of their policies...

Absolute bollocks that.

He was demonised by the heavily right wing biased media in this country

Once he was actually provided a platform, and people could hear for themselves what he was proposing and his views in general he reversed some of the damage done by over a year of the media stringing him up.

The Labour manifesto was costed, unlike the Tories. It wasn't a string of empty promises it was a good, solid set of policies that appealed across the spectrum.

Not saying its right just i have to wonder about them all.

As for a costed manifesto? Sorry but not worth the paper written on snd none of them ever are. He promised the same money to everyone so unless he can also do loaves and fishes trick...

The manifesto added up, the variables were the actual GDP throughout the parliament and the estimates of how much would be raised by clamping down on tax avoidance and increased corporation tax.

The Tories have overseen austerity whilst at the same time increasing the national debt by £700BN. They've been a ****ing economic disaster

Not going to defend any tories.

Corbyns was a popularity contest

Imo brexit is the economic disaster and believe me i know all about that.

Thanks to Corbyn the far right Tories and their puppet May will now have to shove their plans for a cliff edge hard Brexit in the skip.

They'll seek to extend the 2 year deadline imo, and kick this debacle into the long grass where it belongs
