Did I just hear right while watching the Ivory Coast match that Gomis is in Swansea having a medical?

He'll probably score a hat-trick when they play us but i'm still glad we didn't keep chasing. Too many mercenaries have pulled on the shirt.

Swansea know where the line is.
Maybe one day we will compete with them...

Be interesting to see how he gets on. I'm not sure he'll be good enough to replace Bony on what I've seen but you never know. The game here might suit him better.

It won't just be the wages, it will be the size of the signing on fee as well.

Pay a bigger signing on fee and the wages could look smaller but the overall package could be higher. Personally, I think that's what Swansea will be doing to pretend that their wage structure hasn't been broken.

It's embarrassing, they already have Bony and Michu! Shows our (lack of) ambition.

Think Bony is off and Gomis is a replacement.

That said sounds like Debuchy is off too. He was asked about his future and he said he misses the CL and will consider his career after the WC.

    Can only mean one thing.

However, he also said in the same interview that he enjoyed being in the Toon!

No, still means he's off, he just wants it to be amicable to begin with. Give it a few weeks and he'll be on strike.

As for Bony, he's clearly off. Thing is, CL football now seems to be the de facto standard for 'quite good' players. It's like calling Rooney "World Class". He's not in the top 10 in the World for his position, let alone the best. But a lot of these players who are ok seem to think they should be at a CL club. Oh, and they don't mean Celtic or Fenerbahce, by the way. Nope - CL club, but in Italy, Spain, England or Germany. So that's an elite, rarely changing set of 16 clubs, who should all be climbing over themselves for the likes of Bony, Benteke, etc.

What does frustrate is that we're not able to compete with the likes of Hamburg for Lasogga.

Apparently we didn't move for Gomis because we are confident in our chances to sign our number one targets... After the World Cup ends of course, even though they are not all playing in it and ignoring the fact that it doesn't stop other clubs from making signings.

Our number one targets are said to be Lacazette, Grenier and Cabella by the way. That's right - MA is going to sanction over £30million of spending to make sure we get our priority targets. He's not going to do anything daft like offer a combined £9 or £10million for all three. Of course he isn't.

"In a final attempt to elicit interest, Newcastle were again given the terms that would tempt Gomis over the weekend. But their message was that they would stick to targets that were sourced earlier in the summer.

Newcastle want three Ligue 1 players – Remy Cabella, Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Clement Grenier. They have received positive soundings from Cabella’s camp and are set to return with a bid at the end of the World Cup."

I don't mind not going for Gomis. However this idea we are going to nail those 3 leaves me somewhat suspicious!!

Sadly no news on getting some English talent into the squad, we never learn.

Son has said that the French press are saying Debuchy can chose between PSG or Arsenal, who are also keen. For me he's odds on to be at PSG before pre season to be with his Bessie mate Cabs.

I don't think anyone would hold it against Debuchy if he took the opportunity to play for PSG or Arsenal. Two top notcher teams.

The lad is above the standards we are aiming for these days. just a shame we've never really got to see the best of him.

It'll be a short stay over with a quick profit.
