I watched this on Spanish TV. They spent a five minute period at the end of the second half saying the best player on the pitch was Gomez, who had been give the job of marking one of the best players in the world and done it with style. Well played Joe, and just a shame that the only club who got mentioned with him was, logically enoug as he plays there, Liverpool.
What a waste of what was a golden era for our Academy, selling Pope, Lookman and Gomez to subsidise Roland's incompetence, rather than nourish Steve Avery's excellent work to push for the Premier League. I'll be going to the CAST AGM next thursday, where Steve is the special guest, and I hope to ask him how he feels about this.
