I’m planning on playing a lot this year now that I’ve managed to put my elbow injury to bed and shift a bit of weight. Started my prep early and hit the driving range yesterday for a couple of hours, felt good to pick up the clubs again having not played at all last year. Shoulders are ****ing killing today like but well worth it. Need to seek some advice on some new clubs and go for a fitting and work on a few things which I can hopefully get out of the way before the better weather starts to kick in. Not sure I’ll be able to play 15 times a week like Dorts like but I’m gonna enjoy it nonetheless. Me dad is out in Spain until March so if circumstances with COVID and restrictions allow I’m hoping to get out there for a few days for some rounds out there. Trying to swing the lads into arranging our footy weekend trip for Portugal this year...if that comes off I’m planning on a few days of golf before the rest of the lads arrive for 3 days on the lash! Hopefully COVID ****s off and doesn’t disrupt this year again like last year.
Happy new year lads. Golf is the greatest game bar none. Good to see you back playing Crone, I didnt know you hadn't been playing mate. Mind, it's a bit wet and muddy out there at the moment...damned rain!
Wallsend suffers terribly as well with the rain, poor drainage. I've played Westerhope and Hobson recently, the latter was soaked with two holes shut (they still charged £20 though).
York Golf Club closed for over a week but 2021 is my comeback year if someone can please explain the new handicap system!
My club has been open maybe three or four days since end of october. I won't be renewing when it's due.
I wasn't planning on renewing with Ravensworth for that very reason...up until my elbow injury (damn gardening!!). Might do some touring about when the weather's better and I can bring my 'A' game . We'll have to meet up for a game at some point mate....once we're all allowed out again of course!
Yes that's the one. It is a great course, not as majestic or tough as Fulford maybe, but easy walking, no gimmicky holes and always in quality condition. Just finished a major overhaul of the bunkering on just about every hole so worth a trip if you haven't been recently. That being said it's now closed for the next few weeks!!!!
My parents live there and I grew up there. Not played it in ages but my dad has membership there. Never played Fulford but its the best course in York and once held a British Open! Would eat me up and spit me back out i suspect ha
Guilford hosted the Women's Open back in 1976( I think ) which was won by an old friend of mine Jenny Lee Smith. They also played The Benson & Hedges tournament there for many years until they moved it because the powers that be deemed that Fulford was becoming too easy for the top players. That was an absolutely ridiculous decision as it was one of the best attended tournaments on the circuit attracting not only the best players in Europe but also some of the best players in the world.
