Are you saying Bespoke is a scientist? Is there ANY evidence for the existence of God? No. Ergo, there is no God.
I genuinely don't know. I can sort of appreciate the frustration people have when others chose not to engage with rationality, but I can't get what is so difficult to accept when folk put it down to faith.
In the same way, before a telescope strong enough to see Pluto, there was no evidencefor the existence of Pluto, ergo, no Pluto?!
I was merely arguing the case from a rational, scientific point of view. I suppose people belittle God-believers because it seems odd believing in someone or something that has been imagined into existence. Maybe it is unfair to belittle such people but they do need to be challenged.
But no one claimed there was a mystical planet out there called Pluto, did they? Scientists may have speculated there was (in fact, they did) and used scientific methods to prove their case. It's not the same thing.
This is spot on. I can't think of any religious organisations that try to impose their belief systems or morality upon others. Those nasty atheists keep writing books and stuff, though.
Ah, my point was missed... I am all for people have faith in a religion or even believing there is no God... however, I have a dislike for those who try to shove their views down your throat - BE IT "Believe in a higher power" or " there is no higher power" etc Tho, many athiests shout about god bothers preaching about god whilst spending time preaching about there is no god! I'm agnostic...
Well "values" are inherent in any system of belief I would have thought? Like Christian values. I only challenge what I believe to be plain wrong or morally repugnant to me on a personal level. Religion is neither in my opinion.
Do you think if challenged that Mother Theresa, the Pope or the Archbishop of Canterbury would see the light (to coin a phrase)?
