I'd rather see Harper up front than Sholadonkey, even when Harps is injured!!!! Shola is the best paid sunday league player I've ever seen, I can't understand how he has managed to get this far.

Very true, God help us all if he were to put any effort in. At all. Ever...

Our striking options are so limited, but could Airey be any worse than the 4 other strikers? Worth a gamble in the last couple of games in my opinion.

What people fail to appreciate is that Shola is booby-trapped.

When he was an emerging hot prospect he was approached by Man Utd but he turned them down. Angered by the snub, Ferguson hired agents to kidnapp the Geordie superstar. They tortured him in an attempt to turn him against his hometown club but he refused to leave Newcastle. As punishment, they implanted a motion-triggered bomb in his thigh. Much like the film Speed, should Shola reach speeds exceeding 5mph (a light jog) then the bomb will be active, detonating when he then slows down again. Because of this Shola cannot run and instead prolongs his life by walking slowly towards loose balls. Without this fiendish bomb, Ferguson was well aware that Ameobi would become one of the top strikers in Europe but even with this device implanted, every time we play the Mackems he risks death by actually putting effort in.

He's a brave lad is wor Shola. <ok>

What I can't understand is that with the merry go round of managers we have had at our club, everyone of them seems to see something in shola that a stadium full of fans can't. I think keegan is the only one who came close to flogging him. I think the perm is just a step too far for shola and lovernkrands on a week in week out basis. Pardew is speaking a good game about spending this money, let's hope he gets the job done on the transfer market.

As fans we're fools who know nowt, it's like religion, you keep the faith even though you know the promises are smoke and mirrors, we can see the truth but nobody in the bunker listens.

I've always assumed that Shola is a master at mind games and utilises confidence tricks to his advantage.

Play below par for a few games and lull the opposition defence into a sense of false security so they assume 'It's only Ameobi' and leave him in space before he pounces and scores a thunderous goal off his arse... because he can.
