Land of the free, free to shoot their own children, free to let their own children kill other children, and still take the time to preach to the rest of the world the self-righteousness of their own way of life.

Just how many more children in the next 10, 20, 30 years, will face the wrong end of the barrel of a gun before they give up their 17th century constitutional right to bear arms?

In the meantime, lets lower a few flags and express deepest sorrow for the latest slaughter of the innocents.

Interesting that the attacker didn't shoot themselves. Death penalty?

Don’t really know what’s happened because I’m not following the news out here. But guessing another mass shooting has occurred ?

Without even going into the details of this incident, one startling fact in the US is that more children die each year of gunshot wounds inflicted either by themselves or a sibling, due to firearms being left around the house than any terrorist incident against US citizens.

I like the USA and I like Americans. I’ve met a lot of them and I’ve travelled a fair bit of the east and west coast. They are good people with a generally positive and cheery outlook on life. But their guns laws are totally ****ed up.

It certainly is a country to be careful in. My first visit around the Canadian border saw the traffic held up while the police dealt with a multiple shootings and were checking all the cars as a consequence. Pretty scary for a first time.

Trump sends his cynical ‘Thoughts and Prayers’. Yeah, right!

America doesn’t doesn’t need your platitudes, you prick! They need you to do something to stop this senseless, wholly avoidable slaughter of your country’s future.

Posted in anger and frustration, rather than any hope of change.

Get your point but it was the Yanks who voted for him. They knew what they were getting. It isn't just down to Trump, what about the previous presidents who refused to ban guns? Tbh mate, I couldn't give a **** what happens over there.

Obama tried, tried quite hard - but the republican senate, driven by NRA lobbying and money, blocked every attempt.

Trump won’t even try, he’s made it clear that he’s in the NRA’s back pocket.

As is any president. It will never happen, it's too engrained into their culture.

I think the media have a fixation with guns in America, don't get me wrong it's a terrible situation, but surely there is political agendas behind this other than the media actually caring. So why do i say that, well if you consider the population of the UK is what around 70M and the US around 326M, then they dwarf us in comparison...yet we have a higher murder rate in London then places like New York, the closest in population terms that you can draw an equivalent 8.5-9M people.

    So why does this lot not make more frequent news and sensational headlines as in comparison to our American cousins;

Knives are easy to conceal. AR 15’s are not. And they’re probably easier to buy overrate.

I'm not disagreeing with you but I am playing devils advocate here and above...I've not even included UK gun crime in my above figures. So we take all the guns off Americans and turn them to knives instead, five times as many knives that would equate to in comparison to the UK. Do we really think it would make any difference to the death rate overall. 326M looney Americans killing with knives, as you say that can be easily concealed. I suppose at least with knives it don't make such sensational wild west headlines for the media.

Here’s the real picture. London is just one part of the UK. This is happening all over America.

Believe it or not, it would dramatically reduce their murder rates.

At least it would destroy the medias ability of wild west headlines. This is the problem with our tiny little island, we get drawn into sensational headlines. How many people have been butchered in the Congo...best get the TV cameras over there and film live coverage as it happens.

Anyway I've made my point, off out know, as i said just playing devils advocate.
