Here's a fact for you.

When the Ford stopped production on the Escort they replaced it with the Ford Focus. The Focus was built on the Escort chassis and had all the Escorts running gear and brake systems. It did however have a new shape body and a different power pack but it was an Escort in everything but shape and name. I dare say that Ford have invested in retooling their factory over the years since then but I'm sure if Ford wanted to build an Escort they could.

Unlike NASA who have forgotten how to make a Lunar module.
