    The answer is something else.

The game used to be about winning, draws were a bit of an issue, so they gave 3 points for the win. This encouraged teams to go for wins obviously.

Nowadays it is enough for a team to just be in the league and survive due to it being financial success needed and footballing success being a deliverable in that project so the 3 point change stopped working for the most part, top 6 and bottom three apart those in between couldn't give a hoot usually, if a point is good enough for survival they'll take it.

It's time for the sin bin and if the ref had an option of sending Huth off for 10 minutes he probably would not have been so lenient. I believe this would also have happened to Jonjo had the ref had this option available.

There have been too many red\2nd yellow cards for undeserving offences. RvP at Barca is one that sticks out a mile.
So why not bring in a system where there is something between caution and gone for the entire game, sin bin is the answer

Under this system, Huth was intentionally preventing play evolve by fouling, he would have removed himself temporarily from the pitch because of it, this is without the stamp of course which was straight red

Refs need to show balls when it comes to dishing out the second yellow - thats a better idea

Mate you can see the cards being dished out week in week out for bollox.

There needs to be an option between yellow and red. The two cards are not granular enough for the modern game. That system also needs to evolve as there are more rules to break. Interpretation is another issue that could do with another level of punishment to help balance things out.

Lastly, us fans what to see these players play.

    Sin bin offences..
    Pulling a player back intentionally
    Tripping
    Intentional handball
    Swearing\Abuse
    Repeated time wasting
repeated minor fouling - 3 and you're binned.
    and so on.

It would change hte dynamics of a grinding stoke game as players drop onto the bench for 10 minute spells, in Stoke's case it might have been 2 players off at a time leaving them with 8 outfield players as a reward for dirty play.

This would have been excellent for us after being kicked about.

It is a system that punishes play like that and benefits teams who want to play football and attack. But also not punish a hard working defensive team that aint creaming everyone in challenges
