Fraser Forster is a better shout than most on here, certainly better than Robinson. For me, it depends on how much we're willing to spend, if we do get a fair bit then the likes of Akinfeev or Lloris would be great but the chances of them coming to Loftus Road are extremely remote. However, if the Mittal's are upping their stake, then why not?

I think it's more likely to be someone like Foster or, hopefully not, Carson back from Turkey?

What's evident on here though is that everyone is of the consensus that we need a new one???

Trouble is hes been up against L1 standard forwards all season so its hard to judge him. I would only accept a loan with a view to sign if i was TF.

I still think Courtois is the best option short term but theres no way we will get him, hes about 6 6 too.

Jussi Jääskeläinen. So ,bully boy was it so hard?;) Jääskeläinen is bit too old and is not as good he was about three years ago. Im still saying we should go after someone big. We got the money so lets buy a top keeper for us.

Didn't know at the time of writing that Craig Gordon was a free agent now. A possible coup imo. When Sunderland bought him for £9 million, it was the highest fee a British club had ever paid for a goalkeeper until the transfer of David de Gea to Manchester United in 2011.
Struggled with injuries the last couple of years and when he came back he found himself behind Mignolet who had impressed in Gordons absence. A thorough medical and he could be signing of the year.

Craig Gordon is rubbish lads. One of many Roy Keane big money flops. Kenny's better than him IMO.

I think this thread just goes to show that goalkeeping is a dying art. There's not that many good keepers to choose from. All the great ones are already in situ. I'm going to trust Sparky and Mike Rigg to unearth a gem. From all of the posts though Ruddy would still be my choice.

You were redeemed on that one with his inclusion for the Euros, good call.

I would go on record and say I really rate Gordon, commanding keeper, would be nice to hear the thoughts of the S'land boys though. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one Swords ;)

    Certainly my friend.

BTW, was it a National Day in Norway today? You and Ozzie were on about celebrating on the other thread.

We got a really good keeper at VÃ¥lerenga, but not sure I want anyone to know!! He's probably not good enough for the top half of the PL so I'll stay shut up!

My first choice would be Craig Gordon on a free from Sunderland as it is value for money and then sign one of either Scott Loach from Watford, Frankie Fielding from Derby or David Stockdale from Fulham. Excellent young English keepers that can develop but also have experience at Premier League and U21 level and if Gordon does suffer an injury we have a good replacement.........let Paddy follow Warnock!

An injury free Craig Gordon is a top class goalkeeper.

Gordon is a lanky streak of piss. I wouldn't put him between two cones let alone posts. I've seen him make so many fu*k ups, he makes David James look like Mr Dependable.

And also his height advantage is uselss cos he couldn't catch a cold. He's too lightweight as well and can't clear his lines. Couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag and is about as strong as a nine year old girl. Back up the Jock league is where he belongs.

No, we need someone like your other suggestions. Young and hungry who can be coached and developed from an early age and molded into a top class keeper. Until then, our very own Michelin Man will be good enough for another season.

The last thing we need are injury-prone players, particularly a goalie. Of those mentioned Ben Foster is on his own and would be a good addition, particularly as he has 'retired' from the international team. I'd also look for a quality back-up and two outstanding lower-league keepers are Ben Hamer at Charlton and Bobby Olejnik at Torquay. Remember, Paul Hart was at Shrewsbury so there are some excellent keepers outside the PL just waiting for a break...

What about Keiren Westwood of Sunderland. Doesn'tn get a look in there and is certainly a good keeper. 6ft 2in and 27 years old

Westwood is a good keeper but he still is in the "potential" bracket for me. If we are going to give Paddy the shove, then it has to be for a significantly better keeper. Westwood IMHO is not there yet. My choice would be Michael Vorm of Swansea. Think he was bought for about a million. A 3-4 million bid would be very difficult for the Swans to turn down and he is a class keeper.
