Whilst I can't see what the coaching staff will see in training and the U21 development games. If Ruddy's looking sharp then he has to come back in for me. I too was wrong about Bunn and he has proved a good keeper and a great backup after failing to convince early on. I still can't help but think that with Ruddy in and sharp we would have a better chance of taking points in any game and at (what is it now?) £800k per place and with it as tight as it is, one save could make a £4M diffenence and I think Ruddy will most likely make that save. If he hadn't got injured and the England set up actually judged all the clubs the same, he would now be Englands number 1 with Harts patchy form this year. Or we could keep him benched and hope that any prospective purchasers this summer may doubt his fitness or have forgotten how good he is! OTBC Bah!
Do you Remember when we first had Ruddy after Forster? There were threads like "no Ruddy good" . And to be honest Ruddy was a bit shaky at first and lacked control in the box. Then he just got better and better and better...........................until he was the best English goal keeper that I have seen for any team in the PL for a long, long time and certainly the best we have seen in Norwich for many years. Putting Ruddy back in will cause one of 2 things to happen: 1) His presence alone could spur the team on and we will do well with him and he will be as sharp as the day he was injured. 2) He could destabilise the defense who have got used to Bunn and Ruddy will not be as sharp and may let a few in against a VERY physical Stoke side. I like Ruddy and I think he is overall a better keeper than Bunn, but I thought Forster was better than Ruddy when Forster left. The main point is that I think the last thing you want to do is create uncertainty at the back in the last 4 games of the season when we still have to ensure our PL status for next season. Stick with Bunn for me.
Ruddy, Bunn has been capable but NOT outstanding - can we really say he would keep John Ruddy out of the side! Frame it in those terms and the answer becomes a little obvious IMO
Yes, I was one of the few who was a fan of JR when he first arrived. It was like 'pushing a boulder uphill' trying to convince people to give him time!!!
For me Ruddy every single time. If he is fit he is comfortably our best keeper. Bunn has done OK but Saturday showed what a difference a top class keeper would have made to the team. No way Ruddy lets that goal in and turns the atmosphere from coasting to victory to holding out for one. As someone else has said £800k per place is not to be sniffed at.
To be honest, apart from about three or four of us, most were calling for Forster to return, of all the complainers, as far as I can remember, carrabuh is the only one to have held is hands up and admit he was wrong!
I also remember seeing a young lad by the name of Jack Wilshire when we played Arsenal reserves a few seasons ago and thought he was the MOTM that evening!!!
Since Ruddy's injury our league record reads: P 21 W 5 D 8 L 8 F 23 A 34 Pts 23 Therefore I would put Ruddy back in goal as dispite Bunn playing well I feel we have missed him and the record above shows this. Defeats could have been turned into draws and draws into wins had Ruddy been in goal in some of those games. You play your strongest avaiable team
So ruddy plays today vs man city u21 Means he won't play vs stoke 3 u21s games now, i think that should be enough of a come back to be ready for the first team
Judging by some of Hart's performances this season, and noticeably today again, I think Ruddy has a serious chance of grabbing that no. 1 spot, so long as Hodgson acts objectively. Can't wait to see him back in action.
Yes, but as said on the BBC thread a moment ago: "Travis Bowland: "How many times can Joe Hart make an uncharacteristic mistake before it is just a mistake?" You can make excuses for individual incidents like this one - oh he was injured, oh he was blind-sided, etc., but it's happened too often this season.
