He said in the press conference yesterday that he was too old to demonstrate how to play, but it helped to have a good career behind you when talking to players. It must do...the players know that he has been there and done it.

P.s. Ronald has looked exactly the same throughout his life....when celebrating a Saints goal he looks six :)
 
Any manager who has won both the European Cup with a club and the European Championship with his country when he was a player shouldn't need to remind his team of how great he was. In Ronald's case it is just obvious from his relaxed and unassuming manner that he doesn't strut about boasting of past glories, he just gets on with the job, and by all accounts, the players respond to that. I bet he loves having two full backs who can attack in his side though!
 
The man's a legend. Mind you, I'm only recently finding out how good he was at going forward. Must be the best goal scoring central defender in football history.
