It was purely to illustrate his lack of progression as a goalkeeper. The same flaws he had when Henry was spanking a load past him are still evident every time he gets a game. Jak Alnwick is putting up a strong case for the most useless premier league goalkeeper of all time, don't get me wrong, but he's a young lad. Brad's been around the block for years and achieved precisely diddly. If you happen to look at Mignolet's career, you'll agree that's not true of him. He was terrific at Sunderland. As the fellow scouser says, boro fans were celebrating when Brad left! They are related to intelligence, and perhaps more pointedly, related to work-ethic. You don't have to be particularly talented or gifted to get a degree, true, but to get a good one requires hard work, and it requires intelligence to get to the stage of being accepted for higher education. Not all countries use degrees like a cash-cow, as evidenced in this country mate, and he didn't get his here. All I'm saying is, I think it's indicative of an individual worthy of investing time and effort in, rather than discarding for the 6ft 2 traffic cone that is Brad Jones.
Judean isn't wrong. The Minger is terrible at most things (see letting the ball run out for corner amongst numous shocking touches) but one thing he will give you is decent shot stopping. Right now Minger is low confidence and i'm not quite sure what the antidote for that is. Brad Jones on the otherhand is the biggest joke keeper i've seen. He's the definition of mediocrity. When you're keeper starts guessing which way shots go then you are in trouble. He's not the dominant, he's not a great distributor and he isn't the best sweeper keeper. God knows why Reina was let go (for the 2nd time, not the first i.e. this season)
Low on confidence isn't the right wording for Migs. Completely shot of confidence and feeling unwanted is probably more appropriate. WTF was he doing letting the ball run out for a corner...?
To be fair, it did make me laugh quite a lot That as well as kicking the ball at the forward in the first half!
He did keep a clean sheet to be fair... although not facing a shot on target helps. He did his best to try and concede by kicking at the forward to get one on target... maybe he got bored and wanted to try and make a save
Mignolet is our joint 5th top scorer so I hope he does play on news year day. His confidence looks shot
I did a thread on putting in a cheeky bid for lloris over the summer but got shot down. we finished second and in the champs league so he might have considered. too late now though
Personally I'd loan him for a season and see if he can build himself back up. He can then either get a better transfer fee or provide competition for who ever we sign for the keeper spot.
