here is a table comparing gd

team f a gd pos
crawley 32 21 11 1
southend 29 14 15 2
shrews 21 17 4 3
morecambe31 15 16 4
oxon 23 13 `10 5
chelt 21 16 5 6
swindon 25 15 10 7
vale 31 22 9 8
gills 26 19 7 9

the above illustrates that town and chelt suffer from similar problems goal starvation. another 7 clubs down to the gas may mount a challenge but their gd will need a severe tweak upwards. i am sure gt has matters well in hand but the chart illustrates towns poor gd in comparison.

A lot of the reason behind our poor goal difference is the leaky defence letting in weak goal attempts.

apologies for the original layout, let us now consider lower teams gd

maccs f19 a14 gd5
burton f19 a17 gd2 game in hand
womblesf25 a39 gd-5
millers f27 a28 gd-1
crewe f18 a20 gd -2
gulls f23 a25 gd -2
gas f20 a27 gd -7

what this proves is that if those above put a few wins together and improve their gd, some more than others, then it will become mighty tight at the top. for example the gas in spite of their lowly position are only 7 points adrift of a play off place, town need a gd of at least +10 to compete with those around them at the top.

it is annoying we have Morgan who should be at least a 15 goal man this season, but hes turning out to be a lame duck, he started off his career as a centre back...should we perhaps try him back there?

He causes so many problems for the opposition defence that they have to make sure he is always marked. Yes he has missed some cracking opportunities and he should be kicking himself that he has done so, but at least he is getting into that position in the first place. Grant Holt used to miss many a goal especially the one-on-one situations. I just hope that Morgan starts to knock the goals in again for town.

nice to see you marvin, to see you nice, now fingers out (not bruceyism) marvin, time for a hat trick, or helping others to one. let us provide a spectacle to have uncle rowland jumping up and down in his box, with hopefully his hip flask of vintage port keeping pace with him. please let it be a red letter today for uncle graham and the team. lets dance says brucey
